Is there no hope of joining the treaty and joining the alliance? Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb

In the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban proposed a new role for Ukraine, arguing that Ukraine should become a "buffer zone". In his opinion, Ukraine's accession to NATO or the EU does not guarantee its security, but could provoke a larger regional conflict and a strong reaction from Russia. Orban also noted that Ukraine, as a relatively backward country, is facing challenges in economic transformation and development. The inclusion of Ukraine could put pressure on the economies and finances of European countries and would not immediately deliver the reforms and developments that Ukraine needed. In addition, there are political and ethnic divisions within Ukraine, and until these internal problems are resolved, joining NATO and the EU could increase tensions in the region.

However, the views of the Hungarian Prime Minister are not only his personal opinions, but also represent the positions of some Western countries. For some European countries, Ukraine's location on the borders of Russia is geopolitically sensitive and complex. Fearing that supporting Ukraine's accession to NATO and the European Union would increase tensions with Russia, they believe that it would be more appropriate to use Ukraine as a buffer zone to avoid conflict while ensuring security. In addition, for some European countries, enlargement of the EU means investing a lot of economic aid and resources, which can put pressure on their own economies and finances, or even trigger economic disaster. In addition, due to differences among EU member states on the issue of enlargement, some countries are concerned that enlargement will increase internal political and economic pressures, making it difficult for the EU to reach a consensus. As a result, some Western countries may prefer to continue to deepen existing cooperation mechanisms and frameworks rather than to include Ukraine in NATO and the EU.

Ukraine aspires to join NATO and the European Union and integrate itself into the Western system in order to ensure its own security and development. However, Ukraine faces many challenges and resistances. First, Ukraine's internal political and ethnic divisions pose an obstacle to its accession to NATO and the European Union. There are conflicts between Ukraine and the pro-Russian factions in the east, and the resolution of these internal problems is key to the future development of Ukraine. Second, Ukraine's economic transformation and development still faces many challenges, requiring large-scale reforms, and the inclusion of a large and relatively underdeveloped country like Ukraine could put economic and financial pressures on European countries. In addition, there are divisions within EU member states and among the social and political forces that Ukraine joins, which fear that Ukraine's accession will have a negative impact on their country's politics and job market. The most important thing is that the decision of Ukraine to join NATO and the EU must be unanimously agreed by all members, and the individual member states need to reach a consensus in decision-making and resource allocation, which is also a complex and difficult process.

Faced with the situation in which European countries have reservations about Ukraine's accession to NATO and the EU, Ukraine needs to rethink its development path and choices. While joining the Western system will bring more support and guarantees to Ukraine, it is also important to recognize the current realities and challenges in Ukraine. As a country, Ukraine needs to first and foremost resolve its own internal problems and conflicts, strengthen its capacity to govern, and strengthen social and political stability. Second, Ukraine needs to promote economic reform and development, improve its competitiveness and attractiveness, increase foreign investment and cooperation, and further integrate into the international market. In addition, Ukraine should actively establish cooperative relations with other countries and regions, including diversified cooperation with countries and regions outside the EU and NATO, and seek more development opportunities.

In general, Ukraine's path to NATO and the EU is not an easy one, facing many challenges and resistance. Although there are certain reservations about the support of Western countries for Ukraine, this does not mean that Ukraine should give up its desire to pursue its own security and development. Ukraine needs to assess the situation, formulate a development strategy that suits its actual situation and interests, actively respond to challenges, expand cooperation channels, and continue to develop and strengthen itself. In this process, Ukraine needs to pay attention to domestic stability and development, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the international community, establish a good international image, and strive for more support and recognition. Most importantly, Ukraine should always adhere to the principle of peaceful resolution of the conflict, seek win-win results with its neighbors through dialogue and cooperation, and achieve the goal of long-term stability and prosperity.
