CNS InformationAt CES 2024, the BMW Group showcased BMW's new digital technologies and revealed the Group's human-computer interaction development directions. The audience will have the opportunity to experience the fun of augmented reality glasses during the driving process, and interact with the BMW intelligent personal assistant (powered by Amazon Alexa voice assistant) to achieve rapid response and operation guidance for human-vehicle interaction.

At CES, the BMW Group will show visitors for the first time how augmented reality glasses can be used to enhance the driving experience. When you put on your glasses, you'll see how "Xreal Air 2" visualizes navigation commands, hazard warnings, entertainment content, charging station information, and parking conditions.

The technology is built on a highly integrated software architecture that integrates driving experience and infotainment data with relevant data from the vehicle's electrical and electronic systems and the BMW Cloud, and provides customers with a comprehensive digital interactive experience through the perfect integration of hardware and software.

AR and mixed reality (MR) devices will become increasingly popular in the coming years as technology advances and more affordable entry-level products are introduced. In the future, AR and MR devices will complement each other with in-vehicle displays, providing drivers and passengers with richer information content, and further enhancing the emotional experience of human-vehicle interaction.

It is worth mentioning that for the first time, BMW engineers, together with their development partners, have successfully demonstrated stable augmented and mixed reality technologies to passengers in a moving vehicle. In complex driving situations such as curves, bumps or acceleration, the displayed images still reflect the current environment clearly and accurately.

In addition, at the CES, the BMW Group demonstrated a new voice assistant based on a large language model, which can realize intelligent interaction between people and vehicles through voice without hands. The new BMW Smart Personal Assistant is a BMW car expert who answers questions about the vehicle in a timely manner, bringing users an emotional digital experience that understands you better.
