On February 2nd, the Chinese New Year Party was held at the Grand Theater of the Prague Library in the Czech Republic. As an important performance event of the "Happy New Year" in 2024, the Chinese Chamber Orchestra of Zhejiang ** University presented a cultural feast with superb acting skills, rich content and Chinese charm to the Czech audience. The theater was full of seats, filled with a joyful and peaceful Spring Festival atmosphere.

Chinese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Feng Biao said in his welcome speech that the event was not only a literary and artistic feast to celebrate the Chinese New Year, but also the first event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Czech Republic. Over the past 75 years, China and the Czech Republic have deepened friendly cooperation, promoted people-to-people and cultural exchanges, deepened mutual understanding, and reaped fruitful results. At the new starting point, China is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Czech side in various fields and jointly promote the continuous development of China-Czech friendly relations. I believe that with the joint efforts of both sides, China-Czech relations will have a better tomorrow.

*At the meeting, the artists brought representative repertoire from all over China, including 9 classic works such as the traditional folk song "Tea Picking Dance" from Zhejiang Province and "Wuxi Scene" in Jiangnan Minor. Accompanied by a beautiful melody, the audience seemed to embark on a cultural journey to visit the beautiful scenery and feel the folk customs of various parts of China. The orchestra also performed the second movement of the Ninth Symphony composed by the Czech national treasure composer Dvořák, "Homesickness", with traditional Chinese instruments. The Czech Maternik Folk Orchestra was the guest performer and performed the enthusiastic Czech folk song "Little Barbara's Sheep". Subsequently, the young Chinese and Czech performers performed the Czech folk song "Let's Jump, Let's Jump", which attracted bursts of applause and pushed the whole performance to a climax.

The Czech audience gave the show a high rating. Czech Chinese enthusiast Václav Lever told reporters that this year is his 28th year of learning Chinese and getting in touch with Chinese culture, he himself loves **, and can also play pipa, and is very happy to have the opportunity to enjoy the authentic Chinese folk instrument performance in Prague again, and the performance of Suna and pipa impressed him.

At the event, Peter Vasiček, President of the European Art Alliance, presented a certificate of honor to Feng Biao, thanking Feng Biao and the Chinese Embassy for their great efforts to help the Czech and European people understand Chinese culture, and sincerely wishing all Chinese a happy New Year of the Dragon.

Vasiček also presented the orchestra with the "Golden Europe" medal and thanked the artists for their wonderful performances. Over the past 25 years, the European Art Alliance has awarded this honour to more than 300 artists, groups, cultural institutions and cities in recognition of outstanding artistic and cultural events.

The meeting was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, and co-organized by Zhejiang University, attracting more than 400 people from all walks of life in the Czech Republic, envoys from various countries in the Czech Republic, and representatives of the press. The National Chamber Orchestra of Zhejiang ** University, which undertakes the performance task, is composed of outstanding professional young national instrument performers selected and invited at home and abroad.

This is also the 10th "Happy New Year" event organized by the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, which has become a resounding local cultural brand, a window for the Czech people to experience Chinese culture up close, and an important channel for the two peoples to enhance mutual understanding and friendship.
