In the summer of 2021, the Jiaojiang Station of Tsinghua University's Rural Revitalization Workstation was officially put into use, and many teams have participated in the construction of Dachen Island in the new era. On January 27 this year, the members of the detachment went to the island, and they called themselves "islanders", integrated into the island, and devoted themselves to rural revitalization with the enthusiasm of building their hometown.
According to reports, the 12 members of the detachment are from Tsinghua University, Peking University and other institutions, involving philosophy, journalism and communication and other majors. The research and practice lasted for 10 days, and the team members deeply explored the immediate needs of the people on the island, and gave targeted suggestions on the comprehensive layout planning of Dachen Town and the development of the tourism industry of Dachen Island in combination with the actual situation.
When we visited the homes, we found that most of the islanders thought that the existing buildings were scattered and wanted to be relatively harmonious in style. Sheng Qirong said that in this regard, the detachment put forward a "beautiful island" plan based on the façade transformation, and the team members combined the natural elements and cultural characteristics of Dachen Island, and painted the wall of the Jiawuyan self-service ticket office to enhance the perception of tourists and spread the island culture and the "spirit of reclamation of Dachen Island".
In recent years, Dachen Island has continued to develop the tourism industry, and the "Pearl of the East China Sea" shines in the wind and waves. The members of the detachment took measures according to local conditions, comprehensively considered the topography and landform of the island, changed the shortcomings caused by poor terrain into highlights, and further improved the "beautiful courtyard" plan.
Sheng Qirong introduced that in the "Beautiful Courtyard" program, the team members selected more suitable potted plants for decoration according to the island's style and climate. After visiting more than 50 B&Bs on the island, combined with landscape and environmental resources, the theme of returning to nature was proposed, and a series of solutions were given to highlight the island style by using more wooden materials, stone carvings and other elements, reducing neon lights, etc.
The terrain of Dachen Island is undulating, and the existing continuous and multi-stage ladders need to be improved in terms of practicability, safety and aesthetics, especially when the weather is slippery in rainy days. Based on this, the team members strictly followed the building use specifications to renovate the nodes of the outdoor staircase on the island, selected waterproof materials, added rest platforms and handrails on both sides, and had the characteristics of beauty and safety.
In addition, in this practical activity, the detachment also organized a live broadcast to promote Dachen Island's special agricultural products and tourist attractions. The live broadcast lasted for 2 hours, received 140,000 likes, and achieved good promotion results.
