IT Home News on January 10, integrating CIMC's official WeChat, blogger "Xiaodi Express" and other sources, on January 9, BYD Auto Ro-Ro Carrier was delivered and departed from Yantai, Shandong, which is the first car carrier of BYD's "Offshore Fleet" - BYD Explorer No1。
According to reports, the 7,000-space car carrier was built by CIMC Raffles, a subsidiary of CIMC, for the international shipping company Zodiac Maritime, and was leased to BYD by the shipowner. The overall length of the ship is 1999 meters, 38 meters wide, design draft 86 meters, design speed 19 knots, loading capacity of 7000 trolleys. The next stop, the ship will go to Xiaomo Port in Shenzhen to load the truck and then go to Europe.
At the same time, the ship is also the first car carrier built by a domestic shipyard and specially used for the export of domestic automobiles, marking the beginning of the era of "self-transport of domestic vehicles".
In terms of power, the shipEquipped with two sets of Type C LNG storage tanks, green and clean LNG is used as the main fuel for the main engine, generator, etc, which significantly reduces emissions such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides, and has a range of up to 15,800 nautical miles.
According to a previous report by IT House, BYD, which had been "silent" about the company's shipbuilding and ship purchase, finally confirmed the relevant facts in December last year. BYD said that "the company is indeed buying ships" and that "the company has chartered (fixed-leased) two ro-ro carriers from Yantai, Shandong Province, with a delivery time of 2024".
Caixin and others** quoted relevant sources in October last year as saying that BYD's affiliated company planned to order eight ro-ro ships that could carry 7,700 cars at a shipyard in Yantai, Shandong Province, with a total cost of nearly 5 billion yuan. Of these, 6 ships are basically confirmed to be built, and the other 2 are option orders. However, BYD did not respond positively at the time.
