A few days ago, Kia announced that its global sales in 2023 will be 3,085,771 units, a year-on-year increase of 63%, a new annual global sales record.
In addition to special-purpose vehicles, Kia sold 563,660 units in South Korea in 2023, up 4% year-on-year6%;Sales outside of Korea increased by 6% year-on-year to 2,516,383 units7%。
Previously, Kia's global annual sales record was 3,038,552 units in 2014, of which 465,200 units were sold in South Korea and 2,573,352 units were sold in overseas markets outside Korea.
In 2023, Kia's SUV model Sportage topped the global sales charts with 523,502 units, followed by Kia Seltos and Sorento with 344,013 and 242,892 units, respectively.
Kia's annual sales record in 2023 were boosted by new models such as the Kia EV9, the all-new Sorento, the K5 and the Carnival MPV. At the same time, the interruption of semiconductors has eased, which has also increased the production and volume of Kia Motors.
In 2024, Kia's global sales target is 3.2 million units. By region, 530,000 units are expected to be sold in Korea and 266 units will be sold in overseas markets outside of Korea30,000 units. In addition, Kia plans to sell 7,000 special-purpose vehicles.
In 2024, Kia plans to launch new electric models and further strengthen its leadership position in the global electric vehicle market by improving technology to enhance product competitiveness and expand its PBV business to enhance customer value and profitability in the new year.
Kia will also rebuild the Autoland Gwangmyeong EV plant to produce the EV3, a compact electric vehicle, for sale in the domestic and international markets. These initiatives will help Kia continue to grow its global sales and achieve its vision of becoming a sustainable mobility solutions provider.
