Q

What year did you come to Xi'an to study? What was your time like at Xidian?

Jin Qiansheng:I entered Xidian after the college entrance examination in 78. But our class was the only junior college class at that time. The school set up a junior college class because of the shortage of experimental teachers, and our class is a special class for experimenters, and the training goal is very specific, that is, to recruit and train a group of experimental teachers for the laboratory.

After graduating from high school, I returned to my hometown to work, and a year later, I went to work in a factory in the county. Because I had a social experience before going to school, my desire to learn is different from that of current students.

My actual study time at Xidian was two and a half years, and after two years of academic education, I participated in the microprocessor training course organized by the school at that time, which had students from all over the country. After two and a half years of study, I stayed in school and went to work. My first job was in the office of the Department of Computer Science at that time, mainly in the management of teaching and research. In 1984, he was transferred to the office of the hospital, served as the chief of the secretary section in 88, and became the deputy director of the school office in 92. By 95 officially left Xidian,He spent a total of 14 years at Xidian. Xidian is the place where I have worked the longest in my life, and it is also the place where I have the deepest feelings.

Q

What is your impression and judgment of Xidian's academic style and school spirit back then? Are there any leaders, teachers, and classmates that impress you?

Jin Qiansheng:Xidian is a university that has come out of the army, and it has maintained the fine traditions and styles of military academies and universities in the past. I still remember the speech of the secretary of the department when we entered the school: "First, you can't smoke, second, you can't drink, and third, you can't fall in love." "The strictness of the requirements is evident.

At that time, the atmosphere of Xidian learning was also characteristic of the times, and the students who entered the school had a certain social experience, and some even had more than ten years of work experience. Classmates from the class.

Ten. Five or six years old.

Three. Ten. There are five or six year olds, and there is a large age span. Everyone cherishes the opportunity to learn very much, and the atmosphere of learning is very strong.

Our head of department at that time was Professor Cai Xiyao. When I got married, I only had 300 yuan on me, and Director Cai saved his food stamps and cloth stamps to help me. Including Academician Bao Zheng, the president I later met and was familiar with when I was working in the school office, such a scientist-type leader is a lifelong role model for me to learn. There is also a teacher Zhou Lihua, who has been concentrating on scientific research and rarely gives lectures, but the content of the lectures is very practical. I remember he said in class at that time, "Circuit design is like writing an article, writing an article requires the accumulation of materials, and circuit design also has materials." ”At that time, I didn't have a mobile phone, and when I was reading in the library, I would see a lot of specific circuits, and I would draw them in my notebook as Mr. Zhou said, so that I could use them at work。Most of Xidian's teachers are a combination of teaching and scientific research, and everyone says that "famous teachers produce high apprentices".Although my study time in Xidian has only been two and a half years, it has influenced my life in terms of knowledge accumulation and learning style.

Q

Many of the school's young students are also engaged in various industries. What kind of spirit and abilities do you think they should have or exercise?

Jin Qiansheng:First of all, cherish the opportunity to study in school. Schools are places where knowledge is created and disseminated, and if you miss these years, you will miss a lifetime of development. The time spent in school is an important stage in the formation of the knowledge base and personality base. Secondly,Learning is a lifelong thing, not a one-time thing. Whether in school or away from school, learning is something that can never be relaxed and given up.

In my understanding, there are three levels of knowledgeDuan: The first is the learning stage;the second is the application stage; The third is the creation stage. Only by constantly exploring in the first two stages of study and practice can we have the ability to create knowledge. For example, if you want to study the industry, you need to understand the internal logical relationship of the industry, so that you can truly understand what the industry is. Therefore, learning and practice is something that cannot be interrupted throughout life.

When it comes to starting a business, it's important to choose first. Entrepreneurship is a long process of turning scientific principles into technologies and products to the market, students in the early stage of entrepreneurship need to figure out their ideas first, study and determine whether their ideas can form an effective market demand, whether they can fill the market gap, and if there is an existing market, whether it can be more cost-effective than the existing one. In addition, when starting a business, remember to rather have less than more. You can't just change your startup project like punching holes in the wall, because it's just a waste of effort. As long as the market research in the early stage is solid, the later stage is focused on a goal, and the direction is not given up, you can always do your best.

Q

The construction and development of the school is inseparable from the care and support of alumni, and today's Xidian is in an important period of building a world-class university and first-class disciplines

Jin Qiansheng:The first aspect is sensitivity. The school is extremely sensitive to the perception of new things, for example, our school is also one of the earliest universities in China to start researching artificial intelligence, and later established the School of Artificial Intelligence. Professor Jiao Licheng of our school, who has been studying artificial intelligence for decades, has been studying this profession for decades, which shows that the construction of the discipline is a long process. Therefore, we must have foresight and perceive the changes in the field of science and technology in the future. The second aspect is the importance of the foundation. Basic research is the weakest link in our country, so on the basis of striking a balance in all aspects, we need to work hard to treat discipline leaders. For example, it is necessary to introduce foreign talents, but also not to form an atmosphere of "foreign monks chanting scriptures". After a solid foundation, we also need to innovate in science and technology, which is the "innovation syllogism" I just talked about. The first stage is the discovery of scientific principles, and the Chinese have not contributed much in this regard. The second stage is the transformation of science into technology, that is, the transformation of principles into methods. And the school is better at this. The third stage solves the problem of engineering and large-scale application. In short, it is the large-scale production and sales in the form of factories, which is the formation of the so-called industry. Therefore, technology transformation and industrialization can and should be made into Xidian's strengths.

In terms of students' education, it is important to teach students according to their aptitude, and schools should cultivate them according to their characteristics. If you underestimate a student in a class who is introverted and not very expressive, you are wrong. If such a person does scientific research all his life, his achievements may be unmatched by others. Because that's what he's good at. Therefore, training according to the characteristics of different types of people is what schools should do. From primary school to middle school to university, our country has made this process a "factory education", which needs to be reformed. What schools are currently in short supply of is entrepreneurial talents, which is a problem that needs to be solved at present. One of my classmates invented an electronic cupping device in the lab. In addition to normal cupping, there are other first-class means such as microwave and infrared, but he was only able to invent it, and did not continue to make it into large-scale production. Because if you want to produce, you have to cooperate with social enterprises, but often our students lack this ability. After the establishment of the Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship College, this aspect is constantly being strengthened.

The school is inseparable from the support of social resources, including projects, talents, funds, etc., all of which need to cooperate with the society. The positioning of the university is to cultivate scientific research talents and train future scientists for the country. But we can work with companies to build a talent structure that makes up for our shortcomings. For example, we can cooperate with investment institutions in the society to start with the incubation of the project. In this way,It not only serves the local economy, but also for the school, whether it is the transformation of achievements or the expansion of discipline constructionIt's a win-win situation.

Q

What are some tips for motivating young students to succeed?

Jin Qiansheng:First, students tend to think that entering college is like entering a safe, which is a misconception. Young students should give themselves a long-term goal positioning. When young people talk about ideals, ideals are actually goals for the future. The goal does not have to be to be in politics or business, nor does it have to be an academician or a scientist. As long as you become a person who has made a difference, you will not be able to live up to your time in the past few decades. Second, to cultivate one's own character, there must be a bottom line and boundaries. Third, it is the knowledge reserve, which has been useful for my whole life during the two and a half years of studying at Xidian. Young students should take advantage of the best time in school to reserve knowledge as much as possible, which may be the foundation of everyone's life. Studying mathematics equips us with the ability to simplify complex problems, and engineering studies can also read humanities books, which can help us expand our thinking. Finally, on the basis of studying the major, expand your interests and hobbies and become a well-rounded person.
