In the past few years, China has suddenly entered a world of involution. The involution of education for the next generation, the involution of all walks of life, and even the involution of life.
The original meaning of involution refers to the fact that the input does not bring a reasonable return output, the better one is ineffective input, and the worse one is even a negative return.
For example, in education, the basic knowledge is almost over, or it will not affect the learning at a higher stage in the future. However, the children are studying hard, and too much investment only pulls up the overall score, while the proportion of talents selected is fixed and will not change because the overall score increases. In this way, learning becomes a typical involution.
Another example is that enterprises compete with each other to reduce prices, which hurts the profits of the entire industry and will inevitably hurt themselves. Such involution is meaningless, not only can not promote the development of the industry, but even destroy the vitality and enterprising spirit of the industry.
It seems that involution is a very bad thing, and there is no benefit at all, but I don't think that's necessarily the case.
First of all, the essence of involution is competition, and competition is beneficial to the development of the group. Nothing will be obvious that the investment is invalid, the more fierce the competition, the more it can raise the overall level, so that the winner of the involution competition will be more reliable than the winner who does not involute the competition.
Secondly, involution is a product of society after it has developed to a certain advanced stage. Unlike the innumerable opportunities during the savage growth period, in the later stage of development, there are fewer opportunities, and competitors will invest more costs and seek new growth points. This involution is positive and effective in the long run.
Finally, the end of involution is not rolling, and the state of not rolling is not a natural occurrence, and it must go through the process of involution to be realized, which is inevitable at different stages of development. Just like the industries in developed countries are no longer involuted, they are only in a conscious state after involution, not that they have not involuted.
Therefore, everything has a cause and effect, and there is no need to be sad or complain about our involution at this stage, it is just a stage in the overall process, and it is not necessarily a bad thing!
