Today, February 4, 2024, is the 120th anniversary of Comrade Deng Yingchao's birth.
From the marriage of the two in Guangzhou in 1925 to the death of Comrade *** in 1976, ** and Deng Yingchao walked hand in hand for half a century. People have the impression that they are revolutionary companions, as if they want nothing but revolution.
In fact, they also fall in love and accompany each other like ordinary people, and they also have the side of ordinary couples. In 1942, ** wrote in a letter to Deng Yingchao: "I hope you cherish and kiss you!" Such lingering love stories are not uncommon in the biography of the two of them. It's hard to imagine that this is the phrase used in the letter between *** and Deng Yingchao, but this reflects how deeply and passionately the two people love.
Their eternal love, after the baptism of revolution, has become more unswerving. Those love letters that have been sealed by history are even more touching today.
Mr. and Mrs. Deng Yingchao and Sun Weishi (middle) in Yan'an
**After graduating from Nankai School in Tianjin in 1917, he went to Japan to study. In 1919, he returned to Tianjin and met Deng Yingchao during the May Fourth Movement. At that time, ** was 21 years old. Deng Yingchao is 6 years younger than him, only 15 years old. Once at a student conference, she saw *** for the first time when he was wearing a peaked cap, a suit, and white leather shoes, and a classmate pointed to *** on the stage and told Deng Yingchao that he was *** Deng Yingchao said: She thought *** was very beautiful at that time.
Deng Yingchao later recalled: "It was at the climax of this movement (referring to the May Fourth Movement) that we met and had an impression of each other, which was very faint. During the movement, we, a group of more progressive students, organized the 'Enlightenment Club', and at this time, we had more contact with it. But we all have to be leaders at that time. We, the 'Enlightenment Society', met and during the whole period of the movement, we didn't fall in love, let alone get married. ”
From the autumn of 1920 to 1924, ** went to France for work-study and Deng Yingchao engaged in teaching work in Beijing and Tianjin, but they always maintained correspondence. At that time, Deng Yingchao knew that there was a girl beside him, who was prettier than himself. So at first, Deng Yingchao didn't think about the relationship between them in love. In 1923, Deng Yingchao suddenly received a postcard from France, on which the postcard was printed with the portraits of Liebknecht and Luxembourg, ** wrote: "I hope that the two of us will go to the guillotine together in the future, just like the two of them." ”
She was a little surprised, so she told her mother first, and her mother asked her to "stretch" first, but the letters from France were more urgent than the other, "I can't do it if I don't agree."
Later, Deng Yingchao recalled: "Between the correspondence, we enhanced our understanding and feelings, especially since we both established a common revolutionary ideal and wanted to fight for communism. Three years have passed, although the letters you have sent me have been more diligent than in the past, and I have not taken the meaning of the letters to heart, until you have clearly put forward your requirements for me in your letters, and developed friendship into love, and then I have cared and considered. After much consideration, we agreed. Since 1923, our relationship and love have been no longer ordinary comrade relationships or friend relationships, but love relationships. ”
On August 8, 1950, in the West Flower Hall of Zhongnanhai, the two took a photo on the 25th anniversary of their marriage
In the eyes of the world, Deng Yingchao's appearance seems to be a little different from ***, who is known as the "Four Beautiful Men". Zhao Wei, who used to be Deng Yingchao's life secretary, recalled: "Sister Deng often said: 'We don't care about anyone's appearance, Enlai looks more beautiful than me, I am not beautiful. ’”
But Deng Yingchao is not inferior, she knows that *** chose her for the common belief in life. Deng Yingchao wrote to *** and gave a positive reply: "We have the same thoughts, our hearts are connected, and we are willing to rely on each other and fight together for the communist ideal for life." ”
At the same time, she also knitted a sweater for ***, embroidered six big characters on the neckline: Give you warmth, Xiaochao.
Since then, the name Xiaochao has called her for a lifetime.
In July 1924, ** returned to China after his life in Paris and served as the director of the Political Department of the Whampoa Military Academy. He has been busy with work in Guangzhou and has no time to meet Deng Yingchao in Tianjin.
During the Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of China held in Shanghai, ** met Gao Junyu, a member of the Beijing District Committee of the Communist Party of China. He informed Gao Junyu of his relationship with Deng Yingchao, and asked Gao Junyu to bring a letter to Deng Yingchao. In 1982, Deng Yingchao recalled: "It was in January 1925, after Comrade Gao Junyu attended the Fourth National Congress of our party in Shanghai, on the way back to Beijing, he specially got off the bus in Tianjin and visited me in the school where I taught. Comrade Gao Junyu and Comrade *** met during the Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the two talked very deeply, and exchanged personal love information with each other, so Comrade Gao Junyu became a warm 'matchmaker' between me and Comrade ***, and Comrade Enlai did the introduction of Comrade Junyu to me. ”
In July 1925, Deng Yingchao was ordered to work in Guangzhou, and officially came to Guangzhou a month later. On August 8, 1925, Deng Yingchao and ***, the revolutionary comrades-in-arms who had been separated for nearly five years, got married in Guangzhou at the location of the Guangdong District Committee of the Communist Party of China, under the witness of Chen Geng and others.

During the period of their relationship, they agreed that their future correspondence would "still be based on revolutionary activities, mutual learning, revolutionary principles, and future careers, and they could not find the words I love you or you love me."
This agreement seems to have only stayed in the period of love, and after the two became husband and wife, although they still focused on revolutionary work, between the lines, they inadvertently revealed a strong sense of love, and they were full of tenderness.
To Tang Yingchao (3 July 1942).
Chao: After you left yesterday, you fell asleep and woke up almost dusk. Dinner is served with porridge and ham. After the meal, read a few Tang poems and eat one orange. Go to bed at 10 o'clock and take two packs of sleeping pills. I woke up at half past five this morning and slept again at six o'clock, and rinsed my mouth at eight o'clock and ate two slices of bread. Sun De and Hu Guangbiao came to see, and they passed by here to Jiading to run a cement factory. Later, Dr. Wang praised the bag and the pain was alleviated. You can go down to the ground in about five or six days, and wait for your woman's birth. I have fewer hard areas and sleep on my side more easily than before.
Although the weather is hot, you can still calm down. I hope you will cherish and kiss you!

** Calling his wife "Chao", and calling himself "Xiang" is because of his word "Xiangyu".
Deng Yingchao *** July 7, 1942).
Come: I am thinking of you, I received a letter from Tyrone, knowing that you slept well last night, and were not affected by the conversation of many people during the day, and the suspenseful heart was relieved and felt comfortable and relaxed!
Really, since you were admitted to the hospital, my mind, body and spirit have been restless and suspenseful like a heavy stone. Especially in the previous week, anxiety hit my heart even more, so I can't help but go to see you enthusiastically, I hope I can be concerned about your illness in time and can help you!
Now, you're getting better day by day, and you're about to be discharged from the hospital, I'm so happy! It should not be exaggerated in the past that life is like years, but it does feel that a day is long and heavy, if I had not been to see you. I hope these days pass more quickly, and I hope you are discharged from the hospital as scheduled. I think as soon as you come back, I can let go of a heavy stone that is loaded inside and outside my mind and body, and I will be liberated, what kind of happiness I will be!
I won't come to see you tomorrow, I don't plan to come back, I'm wholeheartedly welcoming you back, and I'm already starting to tidy up our house to greet you. Now I just want to draw your attention, before being discharged from the hospital, you must ask Dr. Wang in detail, and do not neglect to look forward to various matters that should be paid attention to in the future!
Has the white medicine been rubbed? Do you still have a little bit to retain? I'm going to see Brother Naru tomorrow night and give him medicine. Love is long and short, and it kisses you thousands of times!

Deng Yingchao *** November 12, 1944).
Come: You've been gone for three days. I miss you too! This time the difference is not as good as before, not because of the deep farewell, but because of the deep love! This time we are separated in love, not to mention that I still have apologies in my heart! I miss you too! You're gone, and it seems to have taken my mood and spirit away! I am in Yan'an, and my heart yearns for Chongqing, and sometimes I feel like I am sharing the joy of getting together with the old people inside and outside Liangyan! You're gone, and you seem to have taken away the excitement of the dance floor! Last night's dance hall was cold and discolored. Before the bell rang ten o'clock, the male and female dancers all left the kiln. "Why did you disperse so early? I asked. "It's going to fall! "Three yuan answer. "Aren't there many people today? Chao asked repeatedly. "No more than twenty pairs. "The woman is very young. "I thought to myself, is it just a loss of color when a dancing actor leaves? - Laugh. But when the dance hall ** played, it was still those usual tunes - "West Palace Resentment", "Plum Blossom Three Alleys" ......When the ** sound came into my ears, I still felt that there was one of those happy people dancing. However, when emotions pass through reason, looking around at the reality in front of you, it means that you have left Yan'an, so I am confused! How do you comfort the thoughts of those who are far away? ......Kiss you deeply! Kiss you gently! Your super 1944 11 12 Yan'an.
These letters are the best proof of their love. From a couple in love to a white-headed old wife, this Condor Heroes couple is enviable.
On the morning of his death on January 8, 1976, Deng Yingchao's secretary Zhao Wei received a ** from the hospital, and the guard Gao Zhenpu said: "The prime minister's condition is not good, please come immediately." She accompanied Deng Yingchao to the ward of the hospital as quickly as possible, and the doctor was still trying to save him by all means. At 9:57 a.m., the heart monitor in the ward drew a straight line and ** left. Zhao Wei recalled: "Suddenly, there was a cry in the ward. Deng Yingchao stroked ***'s cheeks with trembling hands and kissed ***'s forehead. She cried and shouted, 'Enlai! Enlai! You're gone-'At 11 o'clock in the morning, ** leading comrades came to say goodbye to *** and visit Deng Yingchao. Deng Yingchao relayed the three requests and her personal opinions to the leading comrades present. Deng Yingchao said: "First, his will more than ten years ago asked not to keep the ashes and scatter the ashes on the rivers and rivers of the motherland; 2. Don't be special and don't exceed anyone (this refers to the aftermath of his treatment); 3. Don't hold a memorial service and don't say goodbye to the body. The funeral of Comrade Enlai should be simplified, counting nine cold days, the masses are too cold, the dead do not know anything, everything is shown to the living, and it is a waste of manpower and material resources. The above three points request for approval of the report. All the funeral of Enlai is decided by the organization, and I personally have no opinions and requirements, hoping to meet the requirements of Comrade Enlai. After Deng Yingchao finished speaking, he was the first to speak, he said: "We can't hold a memorial service for the prime minister, and if we don't hold a memorial service in the future, we can't take the prime minister now, this is against the will of the people, and we can't explain it to the people." * Then he said: "I agree with Xian Nian's opinion that the memorial service must be held." "No one put forward any other opinions, and the unanimous opinion is that mourning, farewell, and memorial services must be held, and everything will be reported to *** for final decision. In the early morning of January 9, ** approved the funeral report on ***. Because of the decision of *** and ***, Deng Yingchao had to make concessions. In order to express his feelings for ***, Deng Yingchao specially asked someone to weave white flowers into a wreath to be dedicated to the spirit of his dear and beloved ***, and the black ribbon of the wreath read "Mourning for Enlai comrades-in-arms" and "Xiaochao mourning".
Deng Yingchao held the ashes of *** in her hand and was grief-strickenAt that time, some comrades also proposed not to scatter the ashes of Comrade ***, but Deng Yingchao insisted on following his last wishes and personally presented the urn of ***, asking the pilot to scatter the ashes to the motherland that he loved and worked for all his life. Only ***'s urn remained, and seeing this empty urn, Deng Yingchao seemed to see his lover. After 1976, Deng Yingchao served as a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Fourth and Fifth National People's Congress, chairman of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and honorary chairman of the All-China Women's Federation. At this time, she was old and in poor health, but she still worked day and night.
Deng Yingchao, then chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was working
She was in a high position, but she lived an extremely frugal life. She stipulates her own recipes, one meat, one vegetable, one soup, and at most one dish, and the staff proposes to let her eat better from the needs of health, but Deng Yingchao always says: "I eat well enough, you don't forget, there are still a few people who are not living well, and there are a very small number of people whose food and clothing problems have not been solved, think about them, my life is good enough, I understand your intentions, but you also have to understand my feelings." In 1988, Deng Yingchao took the initiative to resign as chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and retired honorably. She said: "Allowing relatively young comrades to take over our work is conducive to maintaining the vigorous vitality of the CPPCC organization, to the continuous development of the CPPCC work, and to our physical health." After the conclusion of the 17th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, people greeted Deng Yingchao with warm applause. She did not have the pride and arrogance after becoming famous, nor did she feel sad and lost after quitting her post, when everyone asked her to withdraw first, she stood at the entrance of the venue and shook hands with the Standing Committee members one by one to say goodbye. In 1982, Deng Yingchao wrote two wills successively, arranging his funeral affairs and relics. The first will, written on June 17, 1982, was recopied and supplemented by a letter dated July 1, 1978, to ***. The full text of the will was published in "People**" on July 12, 1992 after Deng Yingchao's death. The main content is:
The body was cremated after autopsy.
The ashes are not kept, scattered.
Do not engage in body farewell.
There will be no memorial service.
The housing and the original housing are owned by the whole people, handed over to the public for public use, and do not engage in former residences and commemorations.
For ***'s relatives, nieces and nephews, do not start from the relationship or feelings for ***, and do not give care arrangements according to organizational principles and discipline.
The second will was written on November 5, 1982, and she entrusted a team of staff members to handle her belongings. The main contents are:
Do not take rescue when they are sick and cannot be helped.
The unused salary shall be paid in full to the party dues.
The house that lives with *** will be handed over to the public for processing.
Comrade Deng Yingchao's will
After Deng Yingchao's will was published in "People**" in 1992, it caused great repercussions.
On July 11, 1992, Deng Yingchao, who had gone through an 88-year life journey, passed away in Beijing Hospital. According to Deng Yingchao's last wishes, her ashes were packed in the urn of *** that year and scattered in her hometown - Tianjin Haihe. The two of them, in this way, finally came together. This is their most loyal love. They have nothing, no inheritance, no children, and even no ashes, they have dedicated everything they have to this land they love, and they are also loved by the people of all ethnic groups in China.
** And Comrade Deng Yingchao is immortal!
