The academic seminar of "Follow-up Questioning--Abstraction in China 2023-2024" was held at 10:30 a.m. and ended at 2 p.m. on February 1.
The participating artists are: Wang Fuxiang (President of Beijing New Abstract Painting Association), Li Guangming (Director of Shangshang International Art Museum), Xu Shi (Vice President of the Institute of Contemporary Art of Li Keran Painting Institute), Lei Shuang (Selected Artist of "Asian Influence"), Yang Feng (President of the Western American Artists Association), Xiong Wenyun (former Director of Art Education of Nart), Jiang Chuanfeng (Chairman of the Daxinganling Artists Association), Guo Lianzhang (Founder of the New Abstraction Salon), contemporary artists Zhu Weibin, Liu Maoxi, Shuai Ying, and Shi Xu (Director of the Archives Department of the Songzhuang Contemporary Art Archives), etc.
Xu Demin, the academic host of the exhibition, sent the written materials, which were read out by Guo Lianzhang on his behalf.
Theme: Questioning Abstraction in China – Is Abstract Art Ending? How else should it develop?
Instead of being discussed by art critics, the participants of this symposium were discussed by the participating artists. Due to different identities, different angles, different understandings, and different feelings, those official words, polite words, and empty words are gone, and everyone is going straight to the theme and art, although their respective understandings are different, but they play the role of communication, inspiration, and guidance. The atmosphere of the seminar was always serious, warm and orderly.
The academic seminar also went to the exhibition site, and the artists explained their respective exhibited works, achieving the effect of combining theory and creation.
