Recently, in Malta, Europe, the announcement was made by the Sunx Network of Malta, together with Les Roches, the Earth Charter Institute, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Association (hereinafter referred to as the "China Green Development Society", "Green Society") and the European Centre for Peace and Development (ECPD) of the United Nations University for PeaceApplications are open for the 2024 Strong Earth Awards. The award, which will award €500 each to 10 outstanding students, is sponsored by Les Roches International School of Hospitality Management and the Malta Sunx Network. A special prize of €1,000 will be awarded in 2024 in memory of the late Valere Tjolle, a pioneer in green tourism. The winners will be announced at the Sunx Network Strong Earth Youth Summit (SEYS) in Malta on 29 April 2024.
All entrants will receive a copy of the Earth Charter from the Earth Charter Institute and an electronic copy of the book "In Memory of Maurice Strong" published by the European Centre for Peace and Development of the United Nations University for Peace.
Students are invited to submit a 500-word thought-provoking essay entitled "Why is the Earth Charter more relevant today than it was when it was proposed by Maurice Strong and Mikhail Gorbachev in 2005, especially for tourism in the least developed countries and small island developing States?" 》
The Strong Earth Prize resonates in today's climate-challenged world by revealing the Earth Charter's important sustainability message and the visionary work of Maurice Strong.
