Yan Tongyu was born in 1917 in the "Yan Family Hall" in the scholarly door of East Street, Maqiao Old Town, Minhang District. In 1937, when the Songhu Anti-Japanese War broke out, under the guidance of the party organization, he united his workers to the society, publicized the anti-Japanese resistance, and mobilized his brother Yan Chengyu to go to Nantong in northern Jiangsu and defect to the New Fourth Army. In June 1942, due to the betrayal of traitors, Yan Tongyu was unfortunate **, and in prison, he endured the torture with the firm faith and iron will of a Communist Party member, and was always loyal to the party, and finally died heroically at the age of 25. After liberation, Yan Tongyu was posthumously recognized as a revolutionary martyr by the people.
