On December 12, 1936, with the outbreak of the Xi'an Incident, Major Marshal Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng, a patriotic general of the Northwest Army, also successfully completed the "military advice", forcing Lao Chiang to agree to stop the civil war, which directly contributed to the formation of the anti-Japanese national united front.
Zhang Xueliang's move was undoubtedly great, but it is regrettable that he himself has since lost his freedom and was imprisoned, and as soon as he fell, the brothers and sisters of the old Zhang family naturally lost their former treatment, and they were also worried about Chiang Kai-shek's "revenge".
In order to protect themselves, they went abroad to go abroad, to be idle, and to exile, but one of them was an exception, he was Zhang Xueliang's fourth brother Zhang Xuesi, who not only became a rear admiral of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, but also was known as one of the founders of the Chinese People's Navy, and was highly respected by the Chinese people.
Why did Zhang Xuesi, who was born in a family of warlords, join our party? What kind of contribution did he make to the country and the people in this life?
The son of the great warlord Zhang Zuolin joined the Communist Party and became a rear admiral, which does sound a bit magical, but this is the case, of course, a large part of the reason is because Zhang Xuesi has a good mother, that is, Mrs. Xu.
As Zhang Zuolin's fourth aunt, Mrs. Xu can be regarded as the most humble of all the "sisters", her family has been a blacksmith for generations, with no savings and no culture, it can be said that if she is not beautiful, Zhang Zuolin would not have had contact with her anyway.
After being forcibly married home, Mrs. Xu quickly accepted her fate, after all, in an era of starvation at any time, being Zhang Zuolin's concubine can have no worries about food and clothing, she just wants to live a mediocre life, she doesn't want to compete for favor, and she doesn't want to use the identity of the warlord's wife to enjoy life.
But with the birth of Zhang Xuezeng and Zhang Xuesi's two sons one after another, the situation is different, she puts all her thoughts on the children, hoping to cultivate them into talents and cultivate them into a pair of good sons who stand up to the sky.
In the following days, Mrs. Xu adopted a completely different educational philosophy from other aunts, she did not let Zhang Xuesi enjoy any privileges of the Shuai Mansion, let alone instill the idea of superiority in him, but asked her son to be self-reliant and learn to be independent from a very young age.
Sure enough, under the teachings of Mrs. Xu, Zhang Xuesi has been different from other siblings since he was a child, his personality is very peaceful, he never messes with other sons-in-law, and he has not been infected with any bad habits.
You must know that in that era, as the son of a warlord, even if he smoked a lot, eating, drinking, prostituting and gambling was regarded as very normal, and even many "second generation of soldiers" were proud of it, it was not easy for Zhang Xuesi to be able to get out of the mud without being stained, from this point of view alone, he was destined to take a different path with his brothers.
In fact, when he reached the age of going to school, Zhang Xuesi did not go to the private school opened by his father to study, but took the initiative to choose the school of ordinary people.
With such efforts, Zhang Xuesi's grades are naturally very good, although the outside world has a higher evaluation of his two elder brothers, saying that they are both dragons and phoenixes, and they can inherit Zhang Zuolin's position in the future, but how much of them are flattery, and how much is sincere, we don't know.
Because he has been in contact with ordinary people since childhood, Zhang Xuesi is very familiar with the people's sufferings in the three northeastern provinces, and he can also get in touch with the upper class through the Dashuai Mansion in his spare time.
When he was young, he came to the conclusion that a regime cannot rely on the support of the army alone, and only by allowing the people to live a good life can it be truly powerful.
This idea laid the groundwork for Zhang Xuesi to join the Communist Party of China in the future, but ideas are ideas. In fact, before 1928, the eldest brother and father were his hopes.
In his opinion, many of Zhang Xueliang's ideas coincide with his own, especially his disgust with civil war, and his desire to realize China's reunification is even more so, coupled with the status and ability of his eldest brother, and his father's love, under the joint efforts of the two of them, the future Northeast may not be able to prosper.
Therefore, Zhang Xuesi's goal at that time was very simple, that is, to grow up as soon as possible and learn the skills to help his father and brother, but what he never expected was that in 1928, with a loud bang from Huanggutun, everything became different.
Under the teachings of Mrs. Xu, Zhang Xuesi has developed a completely different character and concept from the Zhang brothers since he was a child, he cares about the people, loves the motherland, and is more eager to contribute to the construction of the three northeastern provinces and even the whole country.
At first, he put all his hopes on his father and brother, and only thought about trying to assist the two, but who knows, with the outbreak of the Huanggutun Incident, everything has changed dramatically.
On June 4, 1928, under the conspiracy of the Japanese Kwantung Army, a generation of heroes Zhang Zuolin died on the way back to Fengtian.
Zhang Xuesi is still very pleased with this, and he is willing to believe that his eldest brother can turn the tide, but the actual situation is far beyond his imagination.
In the Northeast, although Zhang Xueliang is the nominal leader, Yang Yuting and Chang Yinhuai hold most of the power, and the Northeast Army is divided into multiple factions, and the veterans who follow Zhang Zuolin to fight the world are seriously inconsistent with the concept of the Young Zhuang faction cultivated by Zhang Xueliang, which also caused huge resistance to the reform of the young marshal.
Externally, Zhang Xueliang did not have Zhang Zuolin's ability, not only could not suppress the ambitions of the Japanese, but also could not play the sinister and cunning Chiang Kai-shek, although he tried his best to promote the change of banner in Northeast China and let China complete the nominal reunification.
But with the entry of 100,000 Northeast Army, the defense of the three northeastern provinces was also instantly empty, and it is not an exaggeration to say that there are many crises.
In this case, discerning people have seen the loopholes, and also realized that the Northeast is likely to fall into a crisis in the near future, such as Zhang Xuesi, but unfortunately, he was not yet an adult at that time, and no one listened to or believed what people said softly, and in desperation, he could only work his own, make friends in school, and intend to change the status quo in China through revolution.
Seeing his younger brother motivated, Zhang Xueliang still recognizes Zhang Xuesi, after all, he is also very optimistic about the Communist Party in his heart, so when the Kuomintang wantonly arrests these patriotic students, he will always stand up as soon as possible to "protect his shortcomings" and use his identity to cover for Zhang Xuesi.
However, it is regrettable that even if Zhang Xueliang was a young marshal, then the deputy commander of China's navy, land and air force, he had to give face to Lao Jiang in many cases.
In order not to embarrass his eldest brother, after graduating from middle school, Zhang Xuesi went to Beiping alone, and secretly joined the Communist Party of China soon after.
Without constraints, Zhang Xuesi soon launched a revolutionary movement with his classmates and comrades, but what no one expected was that at this moment, a news that shocked the world came from his hometown, that is, the 918 Incident broke out!
When he heard that his brother ordered no resistance, causing the 300,000 Northeast Army to lose the land of the three provinces without firing a single shot, Zhang Xuesi said that it was false not to be angry.
What made him even more painful was that after the people around him learned that he was the younger brother of the "non-resistance general" Zhang Xueliang, they actually vented their anger on him, saying that their family was all ** thieves, and that "if there is a brother, there must be a brother", and he Zhang Xuesi is definitely not a good thing.
Listening to these words, Zhang Xuesi's heart was unspeakably wronged, so he couldn't care about other things, he found Zhang Xueliang as soon as possible, first questioned, and then hoped that the eldest brother could cheer up and lead the Northeast military and civilians to expel the Japanese invaders from the country.
After all, the policy of non-resistance was Lao Jiang's order, and he also knew that with the strength of the three northeastern provinces, it would be absolutely impossible to defeat Japan, and without the 300,000 troops, it would be even more difficult to resist the full-scale invasion of the Japanese army.
He didn't feel sad about losing his hometown, he didn't expect the people to understand him, but now even his younger brother is talking about himself, how can he accept it?
Then the two brothers broke out into a fierce quarrel, and finally broke up unhappily, Zhang Xuesi originally wanted to return to Beiping to continue the revolution, but unfortunately, since he went home, he lost contact with the party organization, and it was useless to send people to inquire around, and he had no choice but to accept his brother's help and went to Nanjing ** Military Academy for further study.
In this process, Zhang Xuesi learned a lot, such as the construction of the navy, internationally renowned strategies and tactics, etc., his achievements are also outstanding, not only that, but he has gradually matured a lot, not to mention understanding his brother's difficulties, but also giving Zhang Xueliang advice.
Perhaps it was with the encouragement of his younger brother that Zhang Xueliang finally made up his mind and decided to tear his face with Lao Jiang and promote the Xi'an Incident.
Hearing this news, Zhang Xuesi was both excited and worried, after all, since ancient times, there has been no good end for the soldiers, and if he succeeds, Chiang Kai-shek will not let him go, and if he fails, I am afraid that even the Red Army and the Northeast Army will be buried with him.
Therefore, as soon as he learned that Zhang Xueliang planned to launch the Xi'an Incident, Zhang Xuesi wanted to rush to Xi'an to help, but unfortunately, in the end he was still a step late, and before he could pack his bags, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng had already placed Lao Jiang under house arrest, and finally contributed to the cessation of the civil war, the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and the feat of the anti-Japanese national united front.
Zhang Xuesi was very pleased, but what he never expected was that his eldest brother was also placed under house arrest because of this, and he was controlled by Chiang Kai-shek.
After the Xi'an Incident, the young marshal Zhang Xueliang was placed under house arrest by Chiang Kai-shek, but what I believe many people don't know is that his fourth brother Zhang Xuesi was also implicated and directly controlled by the Kuomintang.
So how did he escape and return to the arms of the organization?
In 1937, Zhang Xuesi was controlled by Kuomintang spies just after graduating from the Nanjing ** Military Academy and lost his personal freedom.
Zhang Xuesi, who is dedicated to the Communist Party, naturally refused, but gradually he realized that if he didn't play some tricks, he might be trapped in a cage for the rest of his life, let alone serve the country.
In order to escape, he first insisted on refusing, and as Chiang Kai-shek gave him various conditions, he showed some emotion, which made the Kuomintang realize that he had the possibility of rebellion, so after a period of time, Zhang Xuesi pretended to agree to the other party's conditions, and proposed to go home to visit relatives after taking office, so he took this opportunity to get out of Chiang Kai-shek's clutches.
After this, Zhang Xuesi joined the Communist Party of China for the second time, and immediately carried out his first task under the instructions of *** and ***: to contact the Northeast Army and try to force Chiang Kai-shek to release Zhang Xueliang.
In fact, with Zhang Xuesi's identity, status and ability, if nothing else, maybe he can really persuade the Northeast Army to rescue Zhang Xueliang, but it is regrettable that at this juncture, there was a "Fan Alley Incident" within the Northeast Army, which directly broke the troops apart, and completely cut off the hope of rescuing the young marshal.
Hearing this news, coupled with the fact that the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression soon began, Zhang Xuesi had to temporarily give up the plan to save his brother, and with the help of ***, he formed an anti-Japanese armed force, and resolutely threw himself into the battle to resist the invasion.
Under the tempering of blood and fire, Zhang Xuesi soon grew from the son of a warlord to an outstanding revolutionary.
In 1938, the chairman personally met him in Yan'an, looked at this resolute young man, and immediately quipped:
Brother Childe, is there a shortage of money to spend now? ”
I thought that Zhang Xuesi would be able to hear that this was a *** joke, but what made everyone present cry and laugh was that he blushed directly, and then said that he was no longer a child, and he had never been a son.
As soon as he heard this, ** also put away his smiling face, and instead praised Zhang Xuesi solemnly, and the praise from the great man also touched Zhang Xuesi a lot, and instantly discovered the difference between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, not to mention it, and it strengthened his revolutionary belief even more.
Relying on faith, Zhang Xuesi forged ahead in the following years, and in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he bravely killed the enemy and made great achievements for the country and the nation.
During the War of Liberation, he returned to his hometown in Northeast China, actively mobilized the masses, carried out land reform, ensured logistics, and met the needs of replenishing soldiers and transporting materials for the large front-line troops.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he spared no effort and devoted himself to the construction of the New China Navy without a moment.
Born rich but willing to be with the poor people, in the face of coercion and temptation but resolutely devoted himself to the light, such a character is really admirable, such a man is really worthy of the rear admiral of New China!
