Chapter 7: Smir the Fox chases the geese
In the first stanza, Nils learns the secret of restoring his human form.
It was the first rainy day after embarking on the trip. During the days when the geese were in Lake Wimbu, the weather was always very good. On the day they began to fly north, it began to rain heavily. Nils had been in the rain for several hours, and his clothes were soaking wet. When the wind blew, he shivered with cold.
Aka flew in front, and the other geese followed in a neat formation. The geese introduced the white geese to the signs of the flight path on the ground, the slopes of Mount Lindrod, the great estate of Uwes Stockholm, the church of Christian, the royal domain in the narrow strip between Lake Upmana and Lake Eve, and the cliffs of Mount Ross.
It was getting darker and darker, and the sun was completely out of sight. The rain continued to fall, and the raindrops kept falling on the wings of the geese. Although they have a layer of grease on their wings that prevents rain from entering. But after hours of rain, the rain had already seeped in. The ground was covered with rain and fog, and the mountains, lakes and forests had become a blurred picture. The signs on the road were simply unreadable, and they flew slower and slower, and there were no more cheerful cries.
In the evening, the geese landed on a large marshland. Nils was drenched during the day, and his body was still wet at the moment, not to mention how uncomfortable it was. Nils lay beneath the wings of the white goose, still too cold for him to sleep. And he always heard strange noises, crackling, rustling, tiptoeing and threatening roars. He was so scared that he didn't know what to do. He wanted to escape from this darkness, and only by going to a place with light and fire could he get rid of this fear of darkness. Suddenly, he remembered that he had just seen a village not far away, why not go there and find a stove to warm up? You might be able to find some hot soup, as long as you can come back before dawn. As soon as he said that, Nils slipped out from under the white goose's wings and quietly walked out of the swamp alone.
With a faint light, Nils walked towards the village. The houses of the villagers are all made of wood and look very exquisite. Many of the houses have carved patterns on the walls and are also filled with stained glass. The doors and window frames were sparkling with paint. The color of the paint varies from house to house, and there are many colors such as red, blue, and green. He heard the laughter of people coming from the houses on both sides of the street, and although he couldn't hear what they were saying, it was so familiar
Nils passed a house and the door to the balcony suddenly opened, and a lady came out of it, and the lady did not notice him. As soon as Nils saw her, a strange emotion welled up in his heart. He was even on the verge of crying, and after coming out for so long, he was now afraid that he would be excluded from humanity forever. Then he passed a small shop with a seeding machine in front of it. Nils jumped up and pretended to start the machine, completely forgetting that he was just a man with a big thumb. After a while, he suddenly remembered and immediately got off the planter. He was really afraid that if he lived among animals for a long time, he would lose many good things.
Then, he passed by the post office and remembered all sorts of newspapers. As he passed by the pharmacy and the doctor's door, he thought that human beings could fight disease and death. As he passed by the church, he thought of God, and the farther he went, the more reluctant Nils felt to leave humanity.
When Nils impulsively says that he wants to continue to be a villain, he doesn't understand what he will lose. But now, he felt uneasy, what if the little elf was angry again and he couldn't get back to his original state? What can I do to get back to my old self?
Nils climbed the steps of a house and sat down in the pouring rain to ponder these questions. He thought about it, an hour passed, two hours passed, and the wrinkles on his forehead were about to come out, but he still didn't come up with any good way. Nils was immersed in his own thoughts when an owl flew in the distance, and he perched on a tree.
Another little owl, perched under the eaves, greeted him: "Hello, Hello! You're finally back! Are you doing outside?”
Thank you for your concern, my life is very good. The big owl replied, "Did anything interesting happen in the house during my absence?"”
Of course," said the little owl, "it is a very interesting thing. There was a mischievous little boy who angered the elf, who used magic to turn him into a little man with the size of his thumb. Later, the little man flew away with a goose and a flock of geese to Lapland in the north. ”
Ah, a thumb-sized person? Is there really such a strange thing? Can he change back again, or will he ever be a villain? ”
Shhhhh The elf left a message saying that if the little boy could take good care of the goose and let the goose return home safely, he would be able to ......”
What can I do? You're done! ”
It's a secret, and no one can overhear it. Let's go to the church bell tower and talk about it again! ”
The two owls flew away together. Nils soon understood that this was the case. He excitedly took off his hat and threw it into the sky, saying, "Ah, I know, as long as I take care of the goose and bring him home safely, I will be able to return to my old self!" Great! At that point, I can be a human again! ”
Nils let go of his throat and shouted, but the residents of the neighborhood didn't seem to hear him at all. In that case, he doesn't have to wander around here. Nils took a quick step towards the swamp where the geese roosted.
In the second section, the hunter sable sneaked up on the wild goose and missed.
During the day, Nils continued to fly on the white goose. He was so immersed in the joy of his trip that he couldn't figure out why he had been so scared last night. Now he doesn't want to give up this trip and his life in the wilderness.
Neither Aka nor Fox Smir thought that they would meet again. After being banished, Smir the fox came to Blekinge, and while he was foraging for food in the forest, he suddenly looked up and saw a flock of geese flying in the sky, and one of them was snow-white, and a small one was sitting on its back. Fox Smir immediately understood who they were, and he had a bad heart. Since Smir the fox was kicked out, he has been sleeping in the open along the way, and he has suffered a lot. Therefore, he hated Nils and the wild geese even more. Smir the fox followed the geese closely, and he wanted to take revenge on them, and it was better to catch them all and chew on their bones to relieve his hatred.
In the evening, the geese finally landed under a steep cliff. Here, with a rushing river in front and a cliff in the back, there is no need to worry about anyone sneaking up on them. Smir the fox was dumbfounded at this scene, he couldn't go to that place at all.
The geese soon fell asleep peacefully. Nils couldn't sleep for a long time, the place was too dark. At this time, he began to yearn for the light again, to return to the human race. He knew that if something happened to the white goose here, he would not be able to rescue him. He always felt as if something was buzzing around him, and he felt more and more uneasy. So Nils came out from under the wings of the white goose and sat down beside the geese.
Smir the fox was standing on the top of the mountain at this time, looking at the sleeping geese from afar, and his mouth was watering greedily. But the steep hillside could not be lowered, and the rushing river could not be crossed. The geese were so shrewd that the fox thought he might as well give up the prey. However, he was not willing to give up the prey he had been chasing for a long time. Foxes are by nature, they don't throw in the towel easily.
Smir stared intently at the geese, recalling the series of humiliations and sufferings they had suffered for themselves. It was because of them that he was banished by the foxes, and now he can only live in a poor place. The more he thought about it, the more angry he felt, and anger burned in his heart.
Just as Smir the fox was furious, a rustling sound reached his ears, and when he turned his head, it was a squirrel running down from a tree, and a sable was chasing him. None of them noticed that there was a fox nearby. Squirrels and sables leap up and down from tree to tree, as if flying. Squirrels are obviously a bit more skilled at climbing, but sables are also very good at crossing up and down tree trunks as if they were running on flat ground.
Smir the fox couldn't help but sigh: "If I had such good climbing skills, those geese would not want to sleep peacefully!."”
Eventually, Sable caught the squirrel. As soon as the chase was over, the fox walked towards the sable. He kindly told the sable that he had not come to rob the prey, and then complimented the sable for his extraordinary ability, nobility and grace, and extraordinary appearance, as the bravest and least ingenious killer in the forest. Smir the Fox gushed a lot of compliments, but Sable ignored him.
Then Smir added: "But I am amazed at how a master like you could be content to catch a squirrel and turn a blind eye to the delicacy that is close at hand. At this, Fox Smir stopped, wanting to see how the sable would react. But Sable still didn't answer, just sneered at him. So Smir the fox continued: "Don't you see the flock of geese under the cliff? Or maybe you haven't been able to climb yet, so you can't go down and catch them, right? ”
When the sable heard this, his body bent like a bow, and the hairs on his body stood on end, and he suddenly pounced on the fox Smir.
* Got geese? Where did you see that? Sable ** said, "Say that they are **, if you don't say it, be careful that I bite your throat at once." ”
Hmph, stop bragging. Don't forget that I'm much better than you, so I don't pose much more in front of me. I don't mean anything else, I just want to tell you that the wild goose is in**. Oh, behold, over there. Smir pointed to the sable, "See, such a large flock, but they are all fat geese!" ”
By the time Smir turned around, the sable had already climbed down the cliff. Looking at the dexterous figure of Sable, Smir gloated and said, "Aka, now you know how powerful I am!" ”

Smir the fox pricked up his ears to listen to the movement below, but he did not expect that suddenly a sable came and fell into the river with a thud, and the waves splashed everywhere. Then there was a flapping of wings, and the geese flew away in a hurry.
Smir the fox wanted to chase the geese, but he wanted to know why the sable had missed. So, Smir the fox waited for the sable to climb up from the water. When Smir the fox saw the sable's head emerging from the water, he said contemptuously, "Sure enough, as I thought, how could you stumble and fall into the river, you big fool?" ”
Can you blame me? "I have climbed to a branch below, and I am thinking of from which angle I can catch all the geese." Suddenly, a man the size of a squirrel popped up, and he was carrying a rock and slamming it at my head, so I ......”
Before the sable could finish speaking, the fox hurried after the geese.
In the third quarter, Niels defeated the otters.
Acre leads the flock of geese in search of a new campsite. There was a crooked moon hanging in the sky, and Aka could see below by the moonlight. She is still very familiar with the places in this area. She flew down the river, which looked like a big black and shiny serpent. Acre led the flock of geese to the skies above the Yurpo Falls, and they circled for a while and stopped at a few large rocks in the middle of the waterfalls, which were the campsites that Acre had found. During the day, it's not safe to climb on the big rocks, because it's a scenic area and it's crowded with tourists, but at night, it's very safe. The geese quickly fell asleep, but Nils still felt uneasy. He was still standing guard for the geese.
Smir the fox soon caught up with them, and he looked at the geese sleeping in the middle of the waterfall, and secretly cried out in his heart. The geese stood in a whirlpool of foam splashes, and there was rushing water everywhere. Smir knew that he still couldn't get it, but he was not willing to give up this opportunity like this, so he thought of other bad ideas. He felt that this hunt was too humiliating, and his reputation as a world hunter had been ruined.
While Smir the fox was frustrated, the otter emerged from the whirlpool with a fish in his mouth. When Smir the fox saw this, he ran over and stopped a few paces away from the otter. This was also done to prevent people from thinking that he was here to rob the prey. He said to the otter, "Oh, otter, you are so strange that you don't eat fat geese, but fish covered with spines." ”
Smir the Fox wanted to be more euphemistic, but he couldn't care so much when he was in a hurry. The otter ignored him, still taking care of his prey. This otter, like Smir the fox, is not a resident of the area, but a wandering homeless man. His name was Grippe, and he often went to Lake Wimbu to catch fish, and he was an old acquaintance of Fox Smir.
Smir, put away your set. The otter said, "Will there be geese in the waterfall?" I know you foxes, you can think of any trick to trick a fish. ”
Oops, it's Gripe, I didn't expect to meet you here. Fox Smir said with a smile. He knew that this otter was not only brave, but also very water-friendly. So, Fox Smir's eyes rolled, and he remembered another set of arguments.
I really didn't lie to you, you see," said Smir, "and the wild goose is on a stone not far from you, can't you see it?" Forget it, it's not surprising. You don't even want to see the geese, it must be because your kung fu in the water is not up to par, and you can't get past it. ”
Grippe, the otter, looked in the direction pointed by the fox Smir, and when he saw that there were geese, he immediately spat the fish into the water, turned and swam in that direction. The otter had webbed toes, a tail like an oar, and its fur waterproof, and he heard that the fox Smir dared to make fun of him, and without saying a word, he turned and swam towards the geese.
The terrain chosen by Acre was indeed safe, and Grippe, the otter, was swept away by the rushing currents several times and almost swept into the whirlpool, but he managed to resurface. Finally, the otter waded through the whirlpool, climbed the rocks, and approached the geese step by step.
Fox Smir stood on the shore and ** excitedly. When he saw that the otter Griffe was approaching the geese, his heart blossomed, and he thought that he could finally take revenge. Seeing that Grippe was about to succeed, suddenly the otter Grippe let out a terrible scream, rolled on his back into the water, and like a newborn kitten, let the turbulent water sweep him away. Then came the sound of the geese flapping their wings, and needless to say, they all soared into the sky in search of a new habitat.
Smir the fox couldn't help but be a little disappointed, and when the otter Griffe showed his head, he asked angrily, "What's the matter?" ”
Grippe the otter didn't bother to answer him, rubbing his front paws. Smir the fox began to taunt Grippe, the otter, and did not even catch the geese that came to his mouth.
Grippe, the otter, was a little upset, and said coldly, "Listen up, Smir. My swimming skills and hunting skills are top notch. I had already approached the wild goose, and was about to jump up and pounce on it to bite, when a small man ran out of the **, and he poked my front paws with a sharp piece of iron sheet. It was a heart-piercing pain, and no one could bear the intense pain. That's why I couldn't stand on my feet and fell into the water. ”
Before Grippe could finish his sentence, Smir the fox hurried after the geese.
Acre had to lead the geese to find a place to camp again, and in the hazy moonlight, they soon found a familiar place. It was a summer retreat by the sea, and Acre knew that the house was empty at this time. They landed on a large balcony and soon fell asleep. Nils never dared to sleep, and he still kept watch for the geese. He has to keep the white goose safe so that he can smoothly change back to his original form.
Nils stood on the balcony and admired the sea under the moonlight. The balcony sat north facing south, and he just faced the sea. In many places, the land will stick out towards the sea to form islands. It's often barren and potholes. The sea used quicksand to build dikes and dunes to block the extension of the landing. This spectacle seems to show that they both hate each other and show each other the ugliest things. However, when some land reaches out to the sea, they build a wall of undulating peaks and mountains in front of them, as if they need to be on guard against the sea at any time. Therefore, the sea is merciless, and the wind and waves roll and crash against the steep rock cliffs without stopping, as if to erode the land completely, or never give up.
But here it is a different kind of scenery. Where the sea meets the land, the land itself is divided into many islands and reefs, and the sea is divided into many bays, headlands and straits. The two seem to be at peace with each other, and they are both in peace with each other.
The sea stretches as far as the eye can see, and the waves swell, reflecting the silver glitter of the moon. When approaching the land, the sea touched the reef and came up with a majestic force, destroying all green life, turning them bare with the bitter salty water. Then, the sea hit a second reef, and of course it was not spared. And then there's a third, and of course it's no different. The reef was robbed by robbers, stripped of its clothes and swept away from its belongings. Further on, the reef became more and more numerous and denser. The sea realized that the land had sent all its youngest children to beg for mercy. The sea was no longer so domineering, it was slowly calming down, no longer pushing the waves so high, the waves eased, and the grass and shrubs in the trenches and in the cracks of the stones survived. Then the sea divided itself into small straits, and when it finally came into contact with the land, there was no danger at all, and small boats dared to go out to sea. The sea turned out to be pleasant, and it only showed its own clear blue, and even it was amazed.
The sound of waves accompanied by the sea breeze makes people have infinite reverie. For the first time, Nils felt that nature was so wonderful, and he regretted that he had never listened carefully to the teachers about the ocean in school. Nils reveled in the beauty of the night, when a sudden roar broke the quiet beauty. He stood up and looked around, and suddenly saw Smir the fox. It turned out that although Smir had followed the geese, the place where the geese were resting was too high for Smir to reach, so he howled angrily. The howl woke the old leader goose, and the light of the moon was gone. Although Aka could barely see anything at night, she could tell that the voice was that of Smir the fox.
Smir, it's you. In the middle of the night, what are you making a fuss about?Aka, who woke up from a dream, said.
Yes, that's me. You've got a good ear. Smir the Fox replied, "I wonder what you think of the night I have arranged for you."He said smugly.
Huh?So, sables and otters were both instructed by you?”
Now you know how good I am, you're really lucky!Do you think that only geese can tease me, and I can't tease you in a fox way?To tell you the truth, as long as one of the geese is still alive, I will follow you until I kill you all. Even if I have to travel all over the country for this, I must achieve this goal. ”
Why would you want to do that?Don't you feel ashamed? You have fangs and claws, but you are hard pressed against us, and we have no ability to defend ourselves!”
Haha, you know to be afraid, Aka, as long as you throw down that little man who has been against me many times, I promise not to chase you anymore and let you live. I promise. ”
Don't think!I'm definitely not going to give a thumbs up. Aka replied firmly, "As long as we're here, you don't want to hurt a single hair of his hair." Any of our geese is willing to protect him, and even give his own life for him. ”
Do you really like him so much that you are willing to defend him like this?Fox Smir bared his teeth and said, "Well, I swear, I'll be the first to cut him." ”
Bah. Aka looked at Smir angrily, ignoring him. Smir the fox roared for a while, and when he saw that the geese did not react at all, he cursed and walked away.
Nils witnessed all this, and he was so excited that he could not sleep when he heard the words of the wild goose. He never imagined that anyone in the world would be willing to sacrifice their lives for him. What a great feeling, Nils was struck by the feeling, he had never really loved anyone before, and his opinion did not change until this moment.
