In Dongyang Village, Linfeng Town, Tiandong County, Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Baiguan mango base is full of greenery, and the 17 acres of mango trees near the top of the mountain have grown clusters of pale yellow flower spikes. Lu Xiuxian, secretary of the general party branch of Dongyang Village, is leading seven or eight villagers to cut off the flower spikes more than ten centimeters long on the tree one by one.
Why do flower spikes have to be cut? Lu Xiuxian explained to reporters: Some time ago, the local temperature was high, and the early-maturing mango trees on the sunny side of the mountain top bloomed in advance. However, due to the lack of accumulated temperature, even if some flower spikes can pollinate and bear fruit before and after the Spring Festival, the quantity and quality of fruits cannot be guaranteed, so it is necessary to cut them as soon as possible and wait for more than 10 days to grow healthier flower spikes to ensure the quality of mangoes.
If you don't cut the mango and flower early, the sales of fresh fruit will be about 1 yuan per catty in the future. Lu Xiuxian said, "Now we can't blindly pursue the yield of fruit planting, but also pay more attention to improving quality and building brands." ”
Steadily increase planting income, one relies on science and technology, and the other relies on extending the industrial chain. Lu Xiuxian introduced that now in the Baiguan mango base, there are integrated sprinkler irrigation equipment for irrigation and water and fertilizer, and there is a rail conveyor for transporting fruit down the mountain, which can save more than eighty percent of labor in these two links. In recent years, the village has also built mango sorting centers, cold storage and other supporting facilities.
In order to increase the added value of agricultural products, in 2022, Lu Xiuxian tried to squeeze fresh fruits into pulp, and after preservation treatment, they were sent to Beijing, Shanghai and other places through cold chain logistics, which was very popular. Last year, Lu Xiu began to mass-produce fruit pulp of different specifications according to customer requirements, and 100% of them were sold through the Internet.
The income from selling fruit pulp is more than 4 times that of selling fresh fruit. Lu Xiuxian said that in 2023, the sales revenue of mango and its processed products of the Baiguan Fruit and Vegetable Farmers' Professional Cooperative led by her will be more than 7 million yuan, and the profit will reach more than 2 million yuan.
Cen Zhenge, director of the Baise Fruit Industry Development Center, who guided the production of fruit farmers on the spot, introduced that there are 13 fruit deep processing enterprises in Tiandong County, processing more than 20 tons of fresh mangoes every year. The average net income per mu of mango planting in the city has stabilized at more than 4,000 yuan, and mango trees have truly become a "cash cow" for farmers.
