Although the most representative calligraphy style of the period appeared in all dynasties, due to the large number of participants, the variety of interests, and the different restlessness, it is difficult to form a unified and convincing evaluation standard, but fortunately, after more than 2,000 years of precipitation, everyone's identification with the top calligraphers in history generally tends to be the same. For example, the book saint Wang Xizhi and the grass saint Zhang Xu should have no objections! In addition to these two celebrities, is there anyone else in the calligraphy world who is called a saint? There were no more in the ancients, but today there are many of them, and they are weird!
What style of calligraphy should beginners start with? Most people will say that starting from regular script, the words must be Ou Liu Yan Zhao. I understand that most of the people who hold this view are most familiar with regular script, and take it for granted that they should learn regular script for beginners. This view is only based on the public's familiarity with the book style, not from the perspective of artistic laws. Some people compare regular script to walking, to walking calligraphy to trotting, to cursive writing to running, arbitrarily thinking that learning books should also be like walking, starting from walking, and its theoretical support is how to run? You have to be so compared to me, I can't help it, but whether it conforms to the laws of art and whether it is scientific or not, scholars can learn for themselves.
