In 1974, the seriously ill *** lived in a ** ward of Beijing 301 Hospital, and during the time before his death, he was already delirious, sometimes awake, sometimes unconscious. When he was sober, he often chattered *** and Mr. Zhu, and repeatedly recited the name of an old subordinate, Zhong Wei.
Zhong Wei is a 55-year-old major general, when he was in trouble, only Huang Kecheng, Zhong Wei and a few others spoke fair for the old chief, and the hot-tempered Zhong Wei also angrily reprimanded the same old superior in person, but he was also implicated and isolated for review, so after the disaster, Zhong Wei was very grateful for the righteousness.
Among the founding major generals, Zhong Wei is the most famous fierce general, who dares to fight tough battles and vicious battles, and has served as the commander of the first-class main division of Siye. The materials of the Northeast Liberation War commented on the 5th Division commanded by Zhong Wei, "This unit is the most energetic division in the Northeast Army, and the ...... has the strongest assault power."It has both offense and defense, and is known for its 'three fierces' of rushing, striking, and chasing, and is the first-class main division in the Northeast Army. ”
In fact, Zhong Wei commanded the battle in a rough and meticulous manner, and had rich experience in dealing with the enemy, and some people jokingly called him "as brave as a tiger, alert as a deer, and cunning as an old fox." "His sex is like a fire, just a little bit, he dares to say anything when his temper comes up, and some people say that he "has a mouth for success and a mouth for failure." ”
Zhong Wei is a native of Pingjiang, Hunan, not far from his hometown of Xiangtan. His original name was Zhong Buyun, he joined the revolution at the age of 15 and joined the Red Army at the age of 18. Because of his thin stature and mediocre appearance, people who meet him for the first time often don't take him seriously, but as soon as he speaks, his voice is like a bell, and his arrogance is impressive.
During the Red Army, Zhong Wei started as a propagandist in the Red Third Army Corps led by Zhong Wei, and became a company instructor and director of the regimental political department, and after the Red Army arrived in northern Shaanxi, he was transferred to the Red 15th Army Corps as the director of the division's political department. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhong Wei worked in the Red Army for a period of time, and in 1939 he was sent to the Henan-Hubei border area to serve in the Henan-Hubei Independent Guerrilla Detachment under the jurisdiction of the New Fourth Army.
Later, the Henan-Hubei Independent Guerrilla Detachment was reorganized into the Henan-Hubei Advance Column, and Zhong Wei served as the political commissar of the regiment. Since the ranks had grown a little stronger, it was proposed to send three regiments to open up new base areas behind enemy lines, and the column commander agreed. However, Zhong Wei pointed out that the composition of the three newly established regiments is complicated, they lack combat experience, and they are not yet able to undertake the task of opening up new base areas, and that this will only lead to unnecessary sacrifices.
Zhong Wei. The commander of the column could not listen to Zhong Wei's opinion, and Zhong Wei argued on the basis of reason. Originally, this kind of controversy was a very normal thing, but some people went online and took the opportunity to criticize Zhong Wei. Zhong Wei didn't want to bow his head and admit his mistakes, so he held his stomach and planned to go to northern Jiangsu to find a ** judge, but when he said this in private, I don't know who leaked the news, and the column severely criticized him and wanted to remove him.
Zhong Wei was angry, didn't say more, and quietly left the team with his wife and children and the guard class. They ate and slept in the open air, traveled day and night, endured all the hardships, and came to Funing in northern Jiangsu from Bamian City, Hubei, where they met Zhong Wei's old superior, Huang Kecheng, who was then the commander of the 3rd Division of the New Fourth Army. Huang Kecheng understood the situation and said to Zhong Wei, you just stay with me and let him be the head of the detachment, and later the head of the 28th regiment.
On the other side, the three regiments sent out by the Henan-Hubei advance column eventually suffered heavy losses and returned in vain.
Huang Kecheng knew that Zhong Wei could fight and his temper, but when he first arrived, many officers and soldiers did not understand him. Once, Zhong Wei commanded the troops to attack the Japanese stronghold, and there were two turrets that were very strong, and one was beaten down for a long time, and the other had not been beaten down, and the company commander was a little hesitant to command the operation.
Huang Kecheng. Zhong Wei asked the guards to pass the word, saying that you will be given an hour, and you will not be able to come down and see you. The guard knew that Zhong Wei did what he said, so he quickly told the company commander, fight quickly, if you can't beat it, the detachment leader will shoot you! The company commander gritted his teeth and commanded the soldiers to capture the turret in one go.
In the summer of 1945, the 3rd Division of the New Fourth Army attacked Huaiyin City, where the Japanese puppet army was entrenched. The regiment commander Zhong Wei received the order and did not immediately organize a strong attack, but took advantage of the night to let the troops work outside the city for a long time.
As soon as the sky was bright, the east gate of Huaiyin City suddenly burst into gunfire, and the enemy troops defending the city were surprised to find that more than a dozen firing platforms built of earth and stone appeared outside the city at some point, higher than the city wall, and set up machine guns and mortars to the city. The enemy troops patronized the shooting platform, and were in a fierce exchange of fire, when suddenly there was an earth-shattering **, the city wall collapsed, and a gap several meters wide was blown out, and the 28th Regiment took only 5 minutes to attack the city.
Zhong Wei (back row, first from left).
It turned out that Zhong Wei commanded the troops to pile up a shooting platform in the middle of the night to cover the troops to attack the city, and sent people to quietly dig tunnels, bury explosives under the city wall, and carry out blasting. This trick really worked, and in less than two hours, the defending enemy in the city was completely annihilated.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhong Wei was transferred to the Northeast and served as the brigade commander of the Northeast Democratic Alliance Army, the commander of the 5th Division of the 2nd Column, and the commander of the 12th Column of the Northeast Field Army. As always, he commanded the battle and dared to disobey military orders, and ** also praised him.
In the spring of 1947, the Siye Army went south to fight, and Zhong Wei, then the commander of the 5th Division of the 2nd Column, led his troops to cross the Songhua River and prepare to advance eastward to Dehui, and cooperate with the brother troops to annihilate the 1st Division of the New 1st Army of the Kuomintang. However, when the 5th Division passed by Gushantun, it found that a large number of enemy troops were retreating in the direction of Dehui, and Zhong Wei made a decision and ordered to deal with the enemy troops entrenched in Gushantun first, and then go to Dehui.
The political commissar disagreed, Zhong Wei ignored the opinion of the political commissar, insisted on hitting the backer first, and ordered him to continue to advance eastward three times, but he was unmoved. In the end, the 5th Division completely annihilated a regiment of the enemy army in Gushantun, and also dragged the enemy 87th Division that came to reinforce, ** led two columns to follow up, and was able to completely annihilate the 87th Division.
In January 1948, Zhong Wei commanded the 5th Division to attack Wenjiatai, and it happened to be snowing heavily, the snow was knee-deep, and the attacking troops were not easy to hide, and it was not small. Zhong Wei came to the position to study countermeasures, and ordered the troops to dig a lot of winding passages in the snow at night, and then pour water on them, turning them into solid frozen trenches. A general attack was launched at dawn and a battle was overcome.
Soon, ** considered promoting Zhong Wei and letting him be the deputy commander of the column first, but Zhong Wei refused to take office and replied: "I'd rather be a chicken head than an oxtail." * After careful consideration, Zhong Wei was finally reappointed commander of the 12th Column. In the Northeast Field Army, Zhong Wei was the only cadre who was directly promoted from division commander to column commander.
Zhong Wei can fight, and he is also known for his violent temper, and even his superiors let him score three points when his temper comes. In 1949, the troops crossed the river to fight, in Hunan, the 49th Army led by Zhong Wei was ambushed by Bai Chongxi's department, and the deputy commander of the corps who commanded the battle with the army ordered to retreat, but Zhong Wei insisted on holding on and waiting for help. The deputy commander of the corps had no choice but to remain silent.
In 1959, when Zhong Wei participated in the enlarged meeting of the Military Commission, in order to defend ***, he couldn't stand up to the stage. The issue of ** has been set in the previous meeting on Lushan, and the enlarged meeting of the Military Commission held in mid-August of the same year was further criticized
At the meeting, someone said that he had made a big mistake by ordering the shooting of a company commander of the Red 1st Regiment during the Red Army. **also stood up and accused*** that this matter was of a bad nature. Many cadres are aware of the actual situation, but no one dares to speak.
Zhong Wei, then chief of staff of the Beijing Military Region, couldn't sit still, stood up and shouted: "Nonsense! The eyes of the audience were focused on him, and he glared at the ** on the stage and said, "This is completely out of nowhere!" Were you there? I was there, I did it, Mr. Peng didn't know about it at all! That man deserves to be killed! ”
It turned out that the company commander was a deserter on the Long March, and he also ran with a few soldiers, and was caught, and Zhong Wei ordered him to be shot. The more Zhong Wei spoke, the more angry he became, Yang Yong and Su Zhenhua, who were sitting next to him, hurriedly pulled the corners of his clothes and asked him to stop talking, Zhong Wei ignored it, blushed, and angrily reprimanded**: Didn't you say that Mr. Peng organized a military group? X, count me in, pull me out and shoot me! ”
As soon as this remark came out, the audience was shocked, and ** was choked and speechless. Of course, Zhong Wei knew what the consequences of doing this at the venue would be, but he had already let it go. After a while, Zhong Wei was escorted out of the venue and isolated for review afterwards. Later, he was sent to Anhui as the deputy director of the agricultural department, and he also suffered enough in that movement. Such a bloody man, of course, Mr. Peng will never forget him.
In the early 80s, General Zhong Wei was rehabilitated, and he was bored at home, and wrote a letter to the Military Commission saying that he wanted to come out to work. It is said that Zhong Wei's old superior, Huang Kecheng, was worried that he would cause trouble again, and said to him: "You can stay in peace, if there is another war, I will come to you." Later, Zhong Wei became ill and died in 1984 at the age of 73.
