In the early morning of today (February 2), with the last set of 200-meter-long steel rails steadily falling at the junction point of Chongqing West Station of Chongqing-Kunming High-speed Railway, the new Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway Chongqing West to Yibin East Section of the whole line has been laid and completed, and it is expected to be ready for traffic this year.

The main line of the Yuyi section of the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway is about 205 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and the total amount of track-laying work is about 391 kilometers. After the completion of track laying, the whole line of rail welding and other operations will be accelerated.

Zhang Hongkun, deputy commander of the Yibin Headquarters of the Beijing-Kunming High-speed Railway Xikun Company, introduced that the Yuyi section of the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway has entered the sprint stage of track fine-tuning and station construction, and the "four electrics" projects such as communication and signal have fully entered the equipment installation and commissioning, and are expected to have the conditions for opening to traffic this year.

The Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming corridor, one of the main corridors of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railways, with a total length of 699 kilometers and a total of 21 stations planned and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After the whole line is completed and opened to traffic, it will traverse Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing and other provinces and cities, strengthen the connection between the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the central Yunnan region, and greatly improve the travel conditions of the people along the line.
