This winter, Harbin's ice and snow tourism is "out of the circle", but when people enjoy the scenery and experience the northern customs, they are easy to be hurt by the ultraviolet rays reflected by the snow, causing the risk of snow blindness. It can be seen that the eye, as the window of the soul, is very fragile, and only by taking care of it can we see the larger world and experience a more colorful life through it.

Eye health spans the entire life cycle, with different focus for different age groups.

Eye health is an important part of physical and mental health and involves the entire life cycle of people of all ages. Specifically, the whole life cycle covers the neonatal period, childhood, adulthood, old age and other stages, and the common eye diseases and coping strategies at each stage are different.

The most common eye diseases in the neonatal period are hereditary eye diseases or eye diseases caused by maternal infection with viruses and radiation during pregnancy, such as congenital cataracts, glaucoma tumors, etc. Parents of newborns can use toys or lights to test their child's monocular tracking ability, and at the same time observe whether the child has esotropic and exotropic manifestations, whether the size and color of the bilateral pupils are consistent, and whether the pupillary area is reflective normally.

Childhood is a critical stage of visual development, and the most common problems are refractive errors, such as myopia, astigmatism, strabismus, etc. Children should learn to master the methods of self-examination of vision and pay attention to the problem of intraocular deviation. In adolescence, in addition to refractive error, attention should also be paid to eye trauma caused by playfulness. At the same time, scientific eye use and regular outdoor activities are also key to maintaining eye health.

In adulthood, due to the intensity of work eyes, it mainly faces problems such as dry eyes and visual fatigue caused by the use of electronic devices for too long. While reasonably planning the time of eye use, adults should also pay attention to fundus diseases caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes, and seek medical attention in time to rule out the risk of glaucoma if there are symptoms of eye pain.

Due to eye aging in old age, there is a high incidence of eye diseases such as cataract, presbyopia, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration, and at the same time, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, heart disease, and kidney disease, which are common in the elderly, may lead to eye symptoms. Therefore, the elderly should pay close attention to eye abnormalities such as vision loss, visual distortion, and visual field defects, and take a comprehensive eye physical examination as a compulsory course for eye protection every year.

In the refractive era, presbyopia can be removed through an intraocular lens.

Over the past 30 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing and participating in the rapid development of ophthalmology, and the advancement of cataract surgery technology is truly amazing. In just a few decades, cataract surgery has moved from vision restoration to refractive stage, which means that the surgical effect has been improved from simple "visible" to full clarity, covering all kinds of eye use scenarios such as using mobile phones, operating computers, playing ball, etc. What's even more gratifying is that the development of technology has not only greatly improved the quality and efficiency of cataract diagnosis and treatment, but also brought new solutions to presbyopia in addition to wearing reading glasses.

Not long ago, the "2023 China Presbyopia Population Insight Report" was officially released at the 23rd National Academic Conference on Cataract and Refractive Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association85% of presbyopia were not corrected. However, problems such as difficulty in seeing near objects, fatigue, and the need for strong lighting caused by presbyopia make it difficult to read, write, send messages, and other activities on mobile phones. Although wearing reading glasses can play a role in assisting near vision, the inconvenience of taking off glasses, the impact on the external image and the "old age" and other problems can lead to anxiety, low self-esteem and other bad emotions. Therefore, for the presbyopia group with high quality of life and great eye demand, taking off the lens has become their biggest expectation for correcting presbyopia.

With the continuous improvement of the functional design of intraocular lenses, presbyopia and cataract can be integrated through intraocular lens replacement**, and simple presbyopia can also be corrected in this way. The all-vision trifocal intraocular lens and astigmatism correction intraocular lens commonly used in clinical practice can fully meet the needs of patients with farsighted, middle and near vision, correct refractive problems such as presbyopia, astigmatism and myopia, and help patients get rid of the trouble of wearing glasses.

Sincerity and refinement to promote the balanced development of ophthalmic medicine.

We are pleased with the development of ophthalmic medical technology, but the "14th Five-Year Plan for National Eye Health (2021-2025)" points out that at present, the problem of unbalanced division of high-quality ophthalmic medical resources in China still exists. China has a vast territory, and how to expand the coverage of advanced technology and allow patients everywhere to enjoy high-quality medical services equally is a topic that ophthalmologists continue to explore. Those who want to practice medicine in the world should first master their skills. In my opinion, ophthalmologists should first improve their medical skills, lay a solid theoretical foundation through study and further study, and actively participate in academic exchange activities to absorb cutting-edge experience. At the same time, we should also give full play to the role of "passing on and helping teachers" to improve the overall ability of the doctor team through theoretical guidance, practical guidance, and hands-on teaching.

To this end, the volunteer ophthalmology medical team of our hospital has been going to remote villages in Heilongjiang Province for more than ten years to carry out free clinics and free surgeries, transcending geographical restrictions, delivering better diagnosis and treatment to the doorsteps of ordinary people, and promoting the penetration of high-quality medical resources at the grassroots level. At the same time, we also take the free clinic as an important opportunity for science popularization and education, and help the people establish the awareness of "early screening, early detection, and early detection" through the scientific diagnosis and treatment of common eye diseases, so as to reduce the blindness rate of eye diseases. Fortunately, the development of network technology has created conditions for ophthalmologists to teach and consult remotely, so that difficult cases in remote areas can also have the opportunity to be diagnosed and treated. I believe that with the joint efforts of our ophthalmology peers and all sectors of society, high-quality ophthalmic medical services will become more accessible and accessible.

On the occasion of the Spring Festival, as a Harbin person, everyone is welcome to come to Harbin Ice and Snow World to see the art of ice sculpture, stroll through the ** street and meet the romantic ...... of "Erbin".As an ophthalmologist, I remind everyone to wear goggles when enjoying and playing in the snow, do not open your eyes when you are outdoors, avoid rubbing your eyes when wearing ** glasses, and at the same time, appropriately supplement foods rich in vitamins A and C. Finally, I wish you all a healthy and enjoyable holiday in beautiful Harbin!
