A turbidity meter is a device used to measure the concentration or transparency of suspended particles in liquids, and is commonly used in water quality monitoring, environmental monitoring, and industrial production. Its operating principle is based on optical measurements.

How it works:Optical scattering method: The turbidity meter passes a light beam (usually visible light) through the liquid sample to be measured, and then detects how much the beam is scattered in the sample. The degree of scattering is related to the concentration of particles in the liquid, the higher the concentration, the stronger the scattering, and vice versa.

Light absorption method: Another method of determining turbidity is to infer the particle concentration by the degree of absorption of the beam in the liquid. In general, the more particles there are, the more they are able to absorb light.

Determination Method:Standard curve method: Turbidity analyzers typically determine turbidity based on a pre-established standard curve. This requires the establishment of a curve with a standard sample as a relationship between the concentration and the measured value (usually optical density or absorbance). Then, by measuring the optical density or absorbance of the sample to be measured, its concentration can be derived from a standard curve.

Colorimetry: Colorimetric is one of the most common methods of determination, which uses the color of light as a function of concentration. Turbidity analyzers typically use a light source of a specific wavelength and then measure how well the sample absorbs or scatters light at that wavelength. By comparing it with a standard solution, the turbidity of the sample to be measured can be determined.

Overall, the principle and method of operation of a turbidity meter is based on optical measurement technology, which infers the concentration or transparency of suspended particles in a liquid by measuring the scattering or absorption of light in a liquid.
