In this paper, the dry gas to ethylbenzene unit of Dongfang Petrochemical is used as the analysis carrier to introduce and analyze the operation and energy consumption of the dry gas to ethylbenzene unit. Analyze the problems existing in the device one by one, formulate the optimization measures of the device process, and verify and implement them. In terms of energy-saving transformation, the fuel gas optimization, floating pressure operation, and power-saving transformation are demonstrated and implemented one by one. Finally, the current situation of the device and the next optimization direction are summarized, which has certain reference significance for the optimization and transformation of the same industry.

Ethylbenzene (EB) is an important chemical raw material, 99% of which is used as an intermediate product in the production of styrene (SM), and then the production of ABS resin, PS, SAN resin and many other downstream products. It is widely used in many industries of the national economy such as home appliances, packaging, and automobiles. 85% of ethylbenzene in industrial production is produced by calcination of ethylene and benzene, and a small part is produced by c"Aromatic hydrocarbon separation method, benzene ethanol method, etc. At present, there are two main branches of alkylation reaction in China: pure ethylene to ethylbenzene and dilute ethylene to ethylbenzene.

Alkylation reactions include gas-phase and liquid-phase methods to produce ethylbenzene, among which the molecular gas-phase method has the advantages of non-polluting, non-corrosive, high space velocity of ethylene and high yield of ethylbenzene, and has been widely used. In order to make full use of the dilute ethylene resources in dry gas, Mobil Badger Company of the United States first developed the dry gas to ethylbenzene technology, and in 2009, Sinopec Research Institute developed an advanced gas-phase alkylation and liquid-phase alkyl transfer to ethylbenzene process, which is used by CNOOC Dongfang Petrochemical dry gas to ethylbenzene plant.
