According to recent reports, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosinyak-Kamyš said in an interview that Poland is preparing for a possible war with Russia.
He stressed that the possibility of a war with Russia is not ruled out, so Poland must be ready for this. The defense minister also noted that what he said was not a casual statement, but was well thought out.
The Polish Ministry of Defense has already begun concrete preparatory steps, such as checking what gaps there are in armaments, and said that Poland will play a very important role in the EU's common defense.
The background to this statement includes NATO military exercises on the territory of Poland, as well as historical entanglements between Poland and Russia.
Poland and Russia have deep contradictions in history, especially in the past few centuries, Poland has been partitioned three times, in which Russia played a leading role. Thus, "anti-Russian" became the consensus of almost all political groups in Poland.
However, it should be noted that, despite such statements by the Minister of Defense of Poland, it is still unknown whether war will really break out between Poland and Russia.
Such statements may be motivated more by precautionary and political considerations for security threats. At the same time, the state of the Polish economy, especially the fiscal deficit, is also a factor to consider.
Last year, Poland's right-wing parties lost their position to power due to economic problems, reflecting the limitations of relying solely on military action.
