One day in 1952, ** embarked on a trip to Kaifeng to inspect the city. After getting off the train, he was greeted by a group of enthusiastic people, one of whose faces made his eyes light up, and for a while many memories surged in his heart.
Smile, greet the people around you, and stride over to that familiar face. He held this person's hand, felt the vicissitudes of time that he hadn't seen for 20 years, and said excitedly: "Long time no see!."It's been 20 years, and you're still so energetic!”
This person was also excited, shook ***'s hand back, and responded happily: "Chairman, your eyesight is really good, recognize me." ”
** smiled and asked, "After so many years, you have been there?"”
The man said with a little emotion: "Well, it's a long story......”
Who is this mysterious person and what has he been through all these years?
* Battalion commander, led the troops to the uprising.
Bi Zhanyun, formerly known as Bi Ruixiang, was born in 1903 and is a native of Guang'an, Sichuan.
Bi Zhanyun, a soldier from a hard background, lost his parents at an early age, and was adopted by his uncle and aunt when he was young.
However, as he grew older, he faced the dilemma of not being able to go to school, and his family's financial constraints made him feel helpless.
In order to survive the difficult period, Bi Zhanyun was not afraid of hardships, went to the landlord's house to find a job on his back, and helped people herd cattle in exchange for a mouthful of leftovers. These experiences left a deep imprint on his young mind and planted a desire for a better life.
As he grew up, Bi Zhanyun realized that he didn't want to live a poor life for the rest of his life. One day, he waved goodbye to his uncle and aunt, who he regarded as his parents, and left his hometown with his old cousin.
However, the outside world is no more peaceful than home. The chaos of warlords from all walks of life has made the people miserable. Bi Zhanyun and Lao Biao were at a loss in this chaotic situation, and were soon captured by a team of Kuomintang soldiers to serve as soldiers.
This army was commanded by Yan Zhongru, the "Living King of Hell", but in fact it was a group of outlaws who gathered together, burning, killing and looting. In this army, the officers treated the soldiers brutally, defaulted on their salaries, and even harmed the weaker soldiers and civilians.
Bi Zhanyun and Lao Biao felt that they could not bear this situation and decided to break away from this brutal army. However, in the process of escaping, they were discovered and returned as deserters. Lao Biao was severely beaten, and although Bi Zhanyun was spared a more cruel treatment because of his young age, his hands were swollen because of the beating, and he could not serve the bowl.
In the end, after consulting with several poor brothers, Lao Biao successfully escaped from this tiger's den.
Bi Zhanyun, who stayed in the army, knew that it was impossible to escape alone, and only by uniting the strength of everyone could it be possible to leave here. This lesson was deeply imprinted in his heart and drove him to a new stage of life.
Bi Zhanyun tried his best to restrain his inner revenge and anger in the army, and began to actively express himself as a "good soldier".
By 1927, at the age of 24, he had been promoted to battalion commander. One day, he received the task of going to Jinggangshan to participate in the operation of "encircling and suppressing" the Red Army.
During the march, Bi Zhanyun witnessed many unimaginable scenes. He was deeply shocked by the brutal treatment of the "red elements" and their families by the Kuomintang reactionaries, but this did not exceed his expectations.
However, what really impressed him was the firm belief of the people of Jinggangshan. Even in the face of the Kuomintang, they still chose to go to support the Red Army, and the Red Army, under the leadership of ***, repeatedly won victories under the siege of a powerful enemy.
Bi Zhanyun also personally led his troops in fierce battles with the Red Army. In one battle, the Red Army captured some of Bi Zhanyun's officers and soldiers, but surprisingly, only three days later, these officers and soldiers were released.
They returned to the ranks and excitedly recounted the experience of the Red Army in treating them: the Red Army did not mistreat them, but treated them with good wine and meat, conveying the discipline and red ideology of the Red Army.
The accounts of these officers and soldiers surprised the other soldiers, because they were very different from the propaganda of the Kuomintang in the past. In Kuomintang propaganda, the Red Army was portrayed as man-eating monsters, and this personal experience completely turned this perception on its head.
Although Bi Zhanyun did not react much to the propaganda of the Kuomintang, because he had witnessed many ugly things in **, this personal experience changed his impression of the Red Army, and quietly planted a seed of thinking about the red cause.
On September 13, 1928, the Red Army defeated Liu Shiyi's division of the 7th Independent Division in Suichuan, successfully occupied Suichuan, and captured a large number of materials. This victory could not have been achieved without the unwavering support of the local people for the Red Army.
This victory deeply shocked Bi Zhanyun, and his heart was greatly touched. He had never seen an army that could get the heartfelt support and support of the poor when it went to the first place. In the midst of all this, Bi Zhanyun sighed in his heart: "Is this the one who wins the hearts of the people wins the world?"With all his mind, he is eager to devote himself to Jinggangshan, follow in the footsteps of ***, and seek happiness for the poor people in the world!
So, in the late September evening, Bi Zhanyun led 126 soldiers, carrying ** and ammunition, under the cover of night fog, and quickly marched towards Jinggang Mountain.
Although Bi Zhanyun and his troops had played against the Red Army for more than a year, they were warmly welcomed by ***. This day became a turning point in Bi Zhanyun's life, and he entered a new path in life. Becoming a glorious Red Army, Bi Zhanyun fought unremittingly for the revolutionary cause and the people of the world, vowing to do his best and dedicate all his strength to the realization of the communist cause.
Begging to finish the Long March.
In 1934, the main force of the Red Army embarked on a long journey, and Bi Zhanyun undertook the task of covering and successfully completed the mission assigned to him by the organization. Subsequently, he rose to prominence in the position of chief of staff of the Red Eighth Army, and then transferred to the Red Fifth Army Corps as the chief of the engineering section of the Military Commission.
However, in the grassland area, ** intensified the encirclement and interception of the Red Army, and the Red Army suffered serious losses. In order to reduce the number of targets and retain more living forces, the chief made the decision to disperse the troops. Bi Zhanyun's unit was broken up by enemy forces, and he had to flee into Tibet.
At first, he hid in Tibetan homes and struggled to communicate with his fellow Tibetans through gestures to win their support. In order to avoid the search, Bi Zhanyun could only hide in the mountains during the day and dare to return to the Tibetan people's homes to rest at night.
After the enemy army withdrew, Bi Zhanyun bid farewell to the Tibetan family, disguised himself as a Tibetan, and silently pursued the Red Army. Along the way, he asked the poor people on the roadside for news of the Red Army, and even picked up the discarded Kuomintang newspapers to look for the movements of the Red Army troops.
When facing the interrogation of the Kuomintang outpost, he cleverly pretended to be a bird in a cage, pretended to be dumb, and successfully fooled through. After some twists and turns, he finally came to Lanzhou, and here, Bi Zhanyun will face an even more difficult situation.
In Lanzhou, a white area under the tight control of the Kuomintang, Bi Zhanyun was in a sinister situation, and the Kuomintang was almost crazy to grasp all the information about our party. In an unfamiliar environment, Bi Zhanyun had little money and food left, and had to rely on begging to make ends meet.
During these difficult days, he begged all the way, cautiously inquiring for news of the Red Army. Eventually, he went to Yan'an, northern Shaanxi. But at this time, Bi Zhanyun's whole body was already covered with sores, and blood was dripping to the ground.
When his comrades-in-arms and chiefs saw him like this, they could hardly recognize him at first glance. After learning about the hardships he had experienced, everyone couldn't help but shed tears.
The difficulties and obstacles encountered by Bi Zhanyun along the way are unimaginable. However, he still relied on his enthusiasm for the party and the revolution to "drag" himself to Yan'an step by step.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Bi Zhanyun served as the chief of staff of the Taiyue Military Region and contributed his own strength to the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan.
During the subsequent War of Liberation, Bi Zhanyun did not hesitate to join the battle against the Kuomintang reactionaries. As the deputy commander of the Henan-Anhui Soviet Military Region, he participated in and commanded the Wanxi Campaign.
Bi Zhanyun assisted Commander Zhang Guohua and Political Commissar Wu Zhipu in the Henan-Anhui Soviet Military Region, and cooperated with the 3rd and 8th Columns of the main forces of Chen Shiyu and Tang Liang's Corps of the East China Field Army to successfully recover Xuchang, Henan, and annihilate the 21st Independent Brigade. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Bi Zhanyun was appointed deputy commander of the Henan Provincial Military Region.
Goodbye reminiscence. Bi Zhanyun and *** never saw each other again after they separated in Jinggangshan. Therefore, when they met again in 1952, ** recognized him at a glance, which surprised Bi Zhanyun. After this meeting, ** and Bi Zhanyun caught up for a long time and talked about a lot of past events.
In 1955, Bi Zhanyun was awarded the rank of lieutenant general for his outstanding military contributions, which was a reward for his heroic struggle in the War of Liberation. This glorious moment also witnessed Bi Zhanyun's outstanding contributions to the cause of the Chinese revolution over a long period of time.
