Ray is a touchless baby sleep and breathe*** developed by startup Ray IoT Solutions in partnership with Johnson & Johnson Innovation and the HAX Hardware Accelerator Program. Most baby monitors simply allow the baby's voice to be heard or seen from another room. However, Ray also intelligently measures your baby's sleep and breathing patterns, while providing detailed feedback and alerting you if something goes wrong.

It can even capture and store memorable moments that are easy to miss. Connected to the paired device via WiFi Bluetooth GSM, parents and caregivers can safely keep an eye on their baby's every move, no matter where they are.

Unlike its average counterpart, which is either a bulky wearable or looks like a webcam or CCTV, Ray is very different. To shift the focus away from the technology itself, Ray's design blends into the environment of a child's room and draws inspiration from classic wooden toys. This figurative approach and alternative use of materials give it a warm, friendly character.

It's like a little guardian that can be placed on a bedside table or shelf and peek into the cot. The ray can also be hung on the wall, using simple fixtures to keep the power cord within easy reach.

Equipped with a sensitive microphone, a speaker, a low-light camera, and an embedded micro-power ultra-wideband radar sensor, the ray can measure human movement and respiratory rate from a distance, even through a duvet in the dark. In addition to general presence and sleep tracking, hospital-grade sensors can detect abnormalities such as fever, asthma, or bronchitis, as well as acute conditions that can lead to accidental suffocation.
