A brief introduction to Nanga Bhava

Nanga Bhava Peak, known as the "Father of Mountains", is the highest mountain in Nyingchi in China, with an altitude of 7,782 meters, ranking 15th among the world's highest peaks.

Nanga Bhava, there are many interpretations in Tibetan, one is "thunder and lightning burn like fire"; One is "the stone that fell from the Tianshan Mountains"; There is also the "spear that pierces the sky". I feel that the last name is more vivid, it is ** in the "Battle of Menling" in "The Legend of King Gesar", in which the Nanga Bhava Peak is depicted as "a spear piercing the sky".

Straddling tropical and boreal zones, the Nanga Bhava region is a rare "museum of nature" in terms of its latitude and altitude.

There are three main ridges of Nanga Bhava: the Northwest Ridge, the Northeast Ridge and the South Ridge. The northeast ridge winds for about 30 kilometers to the bank of the Brahmaputra River, and there are 6 ridges above 6,000 meters on the ridgeline. Two kilometers away from the South Ridge, there is a Wei Peak, Nai Peng Peak, with an altitude of 7,043 meters, and the mountain pass between them is called "Nansuke". From Naipeng Peak, two herringbone ridges protrude to the southeast and southwest respectively; The northwest ridgeline protrudes from two snowy peaks of 6,936 meters and 7,146 meters. Most of the three major slopes of Nanga Bhava are cut by ice and snow into weathered and eroded steep rock cliffs, with the western slope being the most large. The bedrock on the slope walls is bare, leaving traces of avalanches, and the canyon is covered with huge glaciers.

Dozens of glaciers develop in the valley. Its top is relatively flat and covered with snow and ice all year round. Most of the glaciers in this area are marine glaciers, which move quickly, and are affected by temperature and precipitation, coupled with steep terrain, so ice avalanches and avalanches are very frequent.

The misty Nanga Bhava Peak never reveals its true face easily, I wonder if friends who have been here have been lucky enough to see its true face?
