Hanwha Marine (formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine) has delivered the 300,000-dwt LNG dual-fuel powered VLCC Eagle Veracruz to AET, a subsidiary of Malaysia's National Shipping Company (MISC).
The vessel is said to be the only VLCC expected to be delivered in 2024. The godmother was Grace Fu, Minister of Sustainable Development and Environment, and the naming ceremony was held in Singapore.
With a total length of 330 meters and a deadweight capacity of 300,000 tons, the VLCC has an optimized hull shape and propellers, and meets the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 2025 Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3, which can reduce sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides by 85% and particulate matter by 99% by using LNG fuel. Hanwha Marine is also equipped with Hanwha Marine's proprietary DS4 (DSME Smart Ship Platform) smart ship solution.
It is reported that the "Eagle Veracruz" is part of the charter agreement between AET, Turkey's Advantage Tankers and the U.S. International Seaways (INSW) with Shell for 10 VLCCs, and is also the last of the three LNG dual-fuel powered VLCCs ordered by AET from Hanwha Marine, the other two sister ships are "Eagle Vellore" and "Eagle". Ventura", all classified Lloyd's Register (LR).
Like the previous 2 sister vessels, the Eagle Veracruz will also sign a long-term charter agreement with Shell Tankers (Singapore) private***. With the delivery of the vessel, the tonnage of registered ships with the Singapore Shipping Register has exceeded 100 million gross tons.
