The World Food Programme announced that it had provided food and cash assistance to nearly 19 million people in Afghanistan over the past year.

According to a report released on Tuesday, February 13, the assistance aims to strengthen local communities, prevent malnutrition and improve the learning level of students.

Previously, the World Food Programme had also reported that it had assisted more than 500,000 women in Afghanistan in the previous calendar year to promote their self-sufficiency.

However, the World Food Programme and several other international relief agencies have been warning of budget shortfalls and increasing needs in Afghanistan.

The organization's report shows that 41 million people in Afghanistan face acute hunger and are in a shockingly high state of emergency.

It is worth mentioning that the thousands of Afghan migrants returning from countries such as Iran and Pakistan, as well as the destructive** in Herat, have further exacerbated the humanitarian needs in the country.

These developments have heightened the urgency of providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

Efforts to address these urgent humanitarian needs are essential to prevent further suffering in Afghanistan.
