——The practice team of teachers and students of Xiamen Medical College went deep into the grassroots to understand the integrated development of the two sides of the strait

Before the Spring Festival, the practice team of teachers and students of the Department of Nursing and the School of Marxism of Xiamen Medical College carried out the winter vacation social practice activity of "Tracing the Footprints of Leaders and Continuing the Chinese Culture". We went to various parts of southern Fujian to carry out research, immersively experience and learn the cultural context of Fujian and Taiwan, and promote the great construction of "homeland" with affection.

The practice team first arrived at Jimei Tower in Xiamen City and visited the exhibition of archives and documents on Fujian-Taiwan relations. Fujian and Taiwan are geographically close and blood related, and have left a deep common memory in the long-term exchanges and integration. The exhibition selects nearly 400 precious archival documents such as edicts and memorabilia. The practice team followed the vivid introduction of the commentator, through various forms such as first-class exhibition boards, physical exhibitions, scene restoration, etc., and the time axis, with the theme of "Fujian and Taiwan building a common homeland and the people on both sides of the strait retaining common memory", reproducing the real historical appearance of Fujian and Taiwan since the Ming and Qing dynasties, deepening the correct understanding of the historical origins of Fujian and Taiwan by compatriots on both sides of the strait, further enhancing the identity of Chinese culture, and boosting the spiritual harmony of compatriots on both sides of the strait and the great development of cross-strait integration.

There is a magnificent City God Temple in Houxi Village, Jimei District, Xiamen City, which is the ancestral temple of City God Temple in many places in Taipei. Under the leadership of Lai Lai, a young man from Taiwan, we also visited the Black Cat Cross-Strait Youth Cultural Tourism Base. Lai Lai said that the Xiacheng City God Temple in Xiacheng, which originated from the city society in Xiamen, gave her a feeling of home, and they hoped to use the new ** and original ** to make the village's business card to the whole country and the world. In recent years, more and more young people on both sides of the strait have gathered here to take root and start a business, learn from each other, and actively participate in the cultural inheritance, rural governance and civilization practice of southern Fujian while starting a business in the mainland of the motherland.

In just four years, this "bleak" remote village, with the joint efforts of the villagers, seemed to be in the fast lane, lit up, and rejuvenated. The vivid wall paintings on both sides of the street tell us that the terracotta society has transformed the pavement into a neat and hardened pavement, and the red brick ancient houses and beautiful courtyards are scattered, which is as beautiful as an oil painting with the theme of urban pastoral scenery. Many young people in Taiwan have stayed behind to work and live since they went on a business trip, and what has been retained for them is not only a series of policies to benefit Taiwan, but also the intimacy of cross-strait blood ties and the simple enthusiasm of the local people. This is a new life of an ancient village, a display of the centripetal force of a group of people, a model of rural revitalization, and an embodiment of the common efforts of young people on both sides of the strait to build their dreams and realize their dreams!

Through this practical activity, the practice team members deeply realized that it is the mission and responsibility of every Chinese son and daughter to follow the footsteps of leaders and continue the Chinese culture. In the context of the new era, we should give full play to the advantages of historical and cultural resources between Fujian and Taiwan, strengthen cross-strait cultural exchanges and integration, and contribute to the continuation of Chinese culture and the promotion of cross-strait integration and development.
