Two undercover agents, one mutiny, one surrender
On April 12, 1927, Chiang Kai-shek staged a counter-revolutionary coup d'état in Shanghai that shocked both domestic and foreign. In just three days, more than 300 Communist Party members in Shanghai were killed, and more than 500**.
This "purging the party" campaign mass-hunted and killed the Communist Party and the revolutionary masses on a large scale throughout the country, resulting in the deaths of countless Communists. What is surprising is that before the outbreak of the "April 12 counter-revolutionary coup", our party was unaware of Chiang Kai-shek's actions.
This incident has made *** deeply realize the importance of intelligence work.
1.In the face of the severe security situation, the leaders resolutely established the special department, and with extremely high efficiency and accurate intelligence, the special branch successfully penetrated into every corner of Shanghai.
Since then, every move of the Kuomintang has inevitably escaped the monitoring of the ** Special Branch. 2.In order to protect the security of the organs, collect valuable information, and prevent mutual investigation within the party, the "three major tasks and one prohibition" have been formulated.
*Tek acted in strict accordance with the instructions of *** and made great contributions to the cause of the party. 3.* The establishment of the special branch was a great advance in the party's early intelligence work.
Under the leadership of the party, it took only two years for the company to bring every corner of Shanghai under surveillance, effectively safeguarding the party's security and interests. 4.In order to improve the special department, the "three major tasks and one prohibition" were formulated, that is, to protect the security of the ** organs, collect intelligence, suppress traitors, and not allow mutual investigation within the party.
* Tekko strictly abides by this regulation and has made great contributions to the cause of the party.
It is precisely this strict discipline that has continuously improved the intelligence work of the Kuomintang, so much so that many high-ranking officials have become Communists in the two intelligence systems of the Kuomintang, the Military Command and the Central Command, and our intelligence officers have penetrated into every corner.
During the War of Liberation, when Chiang Kai-shek just got his battle plan, almost at the same time, a completely identical plan would appear on the desk of **, which was not an exaggeration, and even Chiang Kai-shek sighed that "no one in the world is communicative".
However, although we have excellent intelligence officers who have penetrated into the Kuomintang, there are also a few who are not strong enough in their revolutionary will, for example, in the early days of the Liberation War, there was a mutinous undercover agent, whose real name is no longer available, but what can be confirmed is that he was an intelligence officer of our party who broke into the Kuomintang and served as a unit chief within the Central Union.
In the early days of the Liberation War, due to the strength of the Kuomintang and the relative weakness of our party, a ** misjudged the war situation of our army, coupled with corruption within the Central Union, he was gradually driven by desire, and his revolutionary will gradually wavered.
In the end, he decided to betray our party. When he plucked up the courage to confess everything to his immediate boss, something dramatic happened. One day in 1947, in the office of Zheng Liankui, director of the Huaiyin District Survey and Statistics Office of the Central Union, one of his subordinates walked in with a panicked face, he hesitated for a long time, and only said "Director, I have something to report to you."
Zheng Liankui immediately scolded him and asked the truth of the matter. The chief eventually confessed his full circumstances as an undercover agent.
He endured sweating profusely, knowing the cruelty of the middle system, and for the sake of future pleasure, he decided to take the risk. He knelt on the ground and pleaded to stay alive in order to give the director more information about the Communist Party.
The director's expression was mixed, with shock, anger, and worry intertwined, but he finally calmed down and asked, "Did you tell anyone else besides me?" He immediately replied, "No, I swear I didn't tell anyone." ”
At the same time, he assured the director that the Communist Party's trust would motivate him to gather more valuable intelligence for the party-state.
When the head of the unit told him that only he knew his identity, Zheng Liankui's expression gradually calmed down. He said he needed to go back and wait for orders first, and was confident that the director would not kill him.
What he didn't expect was that when he turned to leave, a gunshot rang out behind him, and he fell to the ground with a bullet in the chest. At the end of his life, he still didn't understand why his boss, who had agreed to surrender, wanted to kill him.
However, he did not know that he was an undercover agent planted by our party within the Kuomintang. At first, he was very loyal to Chiang Kai-shek, and even in the slander of him by the Kuomintang, he began to hate the Communists.
During the liberation of Lianghuai, our party arrested him, and according to his previous view of the Communist Party, he could be tortured or even shot to death. However, he didn't.
He was ready to face anything, but what followed was unexpected. The harsh treatment he had imagined did not materialize, and instead he received a lot of preferential treatment.
Subsequently, the Communist Party functionaries briefed him on the Party's ideology and principles, which made him realize that his previous views of the Communist Party were completely wrong. Then, the staff showed evidence of the hardships of the people in the Kuomintang, which shook his faith and he realized that the Communist Party was right and just.
He was a hot-blooded young man who joined the Kuomintang for the well-being of the country and the people. However, the KMT is now corrupt, displacing its people and making them miserable.
Under the persuasion of the Communist Party functionaries, he finally chose to abandon the darkness and turn to the light, and became a glorious Communist.
After the Huaihai area was reoccupied by the Kuomintang, Zheng Liankui received an order for him to stay and look for an opportunity to return to Zhongtong to collect intelligence for our party. Zheng Liankui took advantage of his previous connections to successfully return to the Central Committee and continue to serve as the director of the Survey and Statistics Office.
With his help, our party found out 102 Kuomintang sleeper agents, many of whom also became reverse spies after receiving education from our party. Zheng Liankui's contribution made him a staunch communist, and when he heard that the hidden members of our party might defect, he was furious and took immediate action.
He reported the incident to the Order, which was shocked to learn of it and immediately organized a re-examination of the undercover agent's state of mind in order to prevent such an incident from happening again.
It is no coincidence that there are intelligence agents of our Party lurking within the Kuomintang, but it is the inevitable result of our Party's intelligence work. During the War of Liberation, our party's intelligence personnel had already gone deep into various posts of the Kuomintang and played a vital role in our party's intelligence work.
In 1949, a squadron of Kuomintang bombers prepared to revolt and surrender to Cheng, but found that all the bombs had lost their fuses. At first, they thought it was a leak, but later they realized that the maintenance workers of the bomber squadron were also underground parties, and he saw that the bomber squadron had prepared a large number of bombs, thinking that it was going to bomb the liberated areas, so he secretly removed all the fuses of the bombs to sabotage their operations.
This is the important role played by our party's intelligence officers at a critical moment.
During the Huaihai Campaign, the two deputy commanders of the Kuomintang, Zhang Kexia and He Jifeng, were wary of each other without knowing each other's identities. It wasn't until the day of the uprising that they were surprised to find that they, who had always been suspicious of each other, had been working towards the same goal all along.
During his 16-year lurking career, Zhang Kexia even received a sword from Chiang Kai-shek and was praised many times, with Chiang Kai-shek praising him for "a piece of sincerity".
During the War of Liberation, despite the huge disparity between the strength of our army and the first army, we were still able to defeat a strong enemy with a weak force, and the reason for this was that our army had three magic weapons for victory: first, it had the full support of the broad masses of the people, second, it had established a stable intelligence network, and third, it had a first-class command team.
A military strategist once said that intelligence is the key factor in determining the outcome of a war, and this fully proves the importance of intelligence in a war. The heroes of the hidden front who worked silently behind the scenes, their efforts paved the way for the ultimate victory, and they should be remembered forever.
