Li Shuang still remembers that there was suddenly one more elevator driver that day, two women, wearing blue pants with buttons to their throats, "The only place where you can see meat is plastic sandals." ”

Violation of international conventions! In the blink of an eye, she was stuffed into a speeding military jeepri. The police who interrogated her asked her to write an open letter voluntarily severing her relationship with Bai Xiang and stating that she had never had any feelings with him. The interrogator said: "Li Shuang, why bother, think about it, will the French diplomats take a fancy to you?" But Li Shuang stubbornly refused. 
A few days after Li Shuang and Bai Tianxiang got married in Paris in 1984, the content of the interrogation became "Star Painting Society" and "People's Magazine". Founded in the late 70s, the main members of the art club include Huang Rui, Ma Desheng, Ah Cheng, Qu Leilei, etc., and later became known as the beginning of modern Chinese art. Li Shuang is the only female member of the painting club.
Wang Keping, Meng Ke, Ma Desheng, Bei Dao, Li Shuang recalled that the relationship and activities of these friends "were all carefully examined." ”
In 1981, the situation changed abruptly, and newspapers and television began to criticize the liberal ideology. Li Shuang knew very well in his heart that "these people" knew all about the details of the activities of the "Star Painting Club" and the "People's Magazine", and all they needed was a confession.
The basis for Li Shuang's detention was the confession of her friend Li Hui, and the basis was that she helped Li Hui meet a foreigner, which was characterized as "hooligan instigation". Li Shuang was sentenced to two years of re-education through labor on charges of "illegal cohabitation" and "undermining the dignity of the country." At the time, she was planning to marry her fiancé, the French diplomat Bai Xiang.
At that time, marriage with foreigners was still a forbidden area in China.
Li Shuang was arraigned day and night in prison, and in France, the girl's story also caused an uproar. After Bai Tianxiang was recalled to France, he organized an organization to rescue Li Shuang, and many French art and political figures participated. Hundreds of people gathered on the streets of Paris, holding portraits of Li Shuang, with huge banners reading in Chinese and French, "Li Shuang is not guilty."

Only Li Shuang himself in the eye of the storm can only deal with female prisoners in prison every day, and he doesn't know anything about what happens outside. In May 1983, Li Shuang was allowed to be released from prison. The second day of Francois Mitterrand's visit to China. The French ambassador, Chahel Marlow, nervously stressed to Mitterrand that "Li Shuang has not yet been released". Marlowe is the new French ambassador, the original ambassador Claude Shayer was removed and recalled to China because of the "Li Shuang incident", and Bai Baixiang was also recalled to France. During the talks, Mitterrand made a point of mentioning Li Shuang's matter to the Chinese leadership. A week later, Li Shuang came out of prison and was allowed to go abroad and get married. 
Li Shuang's private affairs became a national event, and ** personally ordered Li Shuang to be released. Li Shuang cheered and followed his father out of the good township. A large group of foreign friends and ** journalists are already waiting at home. The house was so small that the tables and chairs were cleared into the hallway, and the neighbors and the police were on standby. Her foreign friend was "as excited as an eagle fluttering on a chicken", and rushed up to hug Li Shuang. Li Shuang felt that he was "dragged around like a puppet". Later, she went abroad and was treated the same at the French airport, where the people welcomed the girl from a foreign country like a hero. Li Shuang looked blankly at the reporter and flash in front of him. "It's just falling in love and getting married with foreigners", Li Shuang didn't know that what he thought was a pure private life was unexpectedly involved in the whirlpool of politics. "I was just trying to live a little like myself, and I inadvertently touched the hardest authority. In the book "Cool", Li Shuang recalled. Li Shuang's parents were intellectuals, and his father was once branded as a rightist. Because of her family background, the kindergarten aunt discriminated against Li Shuang and punished her for standing outside the classroom in winter, so cold that she couldn't wear shoes and socks. Li Shuang said that those scenes will continue to dream when she grows up, and she always sees her father standing at the end of the kindergarten corridor, but she can never touch him. During the ten years when Li Shuang was young, Li Shuang was nine years old when his home was raided. The overwhelming introspection, reporting, and criticism made Li Shuang's parents almost unable to resist, and the alienation and abuse of her friends made her feel even more frightened, "Children don't understand, they will feel that they always do wrong things", Li Shuang even tried to commit suicide with gas.
At the age of fourteen, only a few of his classmates did not join the Red Soldiers, and Li Shuang hoped to change his situation.

Such a maverick has always accompanied Li Shuang's growth. Many years later, in his book, Li Shuang described the social turmoil, but also recalled the experience of a girl facing her first menstrual period, as well as later love, pregnancy, and abortion.
Someone persuaded Li Shuang to hide some negative content, but she felt that she should face up to all of herself, "I look at these very lightly".
Grandma once said with a smile that with Li Shuang's character, one day he will be "shot out of the head". I didn't expect it to be a prophecy.
She loved to draw, but she had no formal education, and the apples she painted, "instead painted yellow, like the sun." What happened to her in the future was almost doomed, she was not beautiful, she was not taken seriously, she was bullied by the neighborhood children, she had low self-esteem, but she was conceited ......In the era when everyone is uniform, Li Shuang "just wants to live according to his own ideas". She had boyfriends, had abortions, fell in love with artists, mingled with poets and painters, and it seemed shocking in those days. 
During the period of Li Shuang's work "Stars", Li Shuang painted a self-portrait. A girl sits in a chair with one leg bent and her hands clasped, one eye wide open and the other vaguely half-open. "I can see clearly, but I can't see clearly, I want to see, and there are things that I can't see. She explained. After arriving in France, in February 1984, Li Shuang and Bai Baixiang got married in Paris. Li Shuang deliberately avoided the ** reporters who were chasing, and went to museums all day long to see paintings and learn Western painting techniques, "his eyes were suddenly opened". Everything has to be learned from scratch, first and foremost, the language. Coupled with more than 20 years of entanglement in China, Li Shuang felt that he was "very lost". After returning from the museum, she started trying to make some collages. When I was in China, I didn't have the money to buy art materials, so it was a luxury to buy oil pastels. When I arrived in France, I saw that even the paper wrapped in the bouquet was very beautiful, "What a pity to throw it away." Li Shuang's collage experiments are all cut and pasted with paper, a small person, or several villains pasted together, "is to tell his own past story and the relationship between people." Things gradually subsided, and Li Shuang began to try to paint the collage experiment onto oil canvas. In recent years, with the help of friends, she has also begun to return to China to do some exhibitions. She also designs for luxury brands who appreciate her taste in oriental art. Regarding the past, Li Shuang was reluctant to mention too much to them. 
After the female hooligan incident, the Ministry of Civil Affairs issued a document entitled "Several Regulations on the Registration of Marriages between Chinese Citizens and Foreigners", requiring all localities to relax restrictions on foreign-related marriages, and the public's interaction with foreigners has become increasingly relaxed. As the first person to eat crabs, Li Shuang sometimes feels that he has given too much and received too little. Most of the artists of "Star" are now famous, but Li Shuang is forgotten by most people. Only now did she understand that life did not treat her badly. She watched as people were crazy about politics thirty years ago, and now they are crazy about money. She considers herself lucky to be able to "pull out and look at these things calmly." She said. "If we ask every Chinese who came from that era today, what exactly have you done? Li Shuang said that most people didn't do anything. And Li Shuang thinks that he has "done something." Everyone, only you are your own master".

Li Shuang and Mr. In July 1981, Li Shuang was riding a bicycle on the streets of Xidan, and Bai Tianxiang was parallel to her in the car, and the two chatted through the window. People couldn't get used to seeing her "hook up" with foreigners, and they were sent to the nearby public security bureau by the indignant people, and they were able to come out with great difficulty. Two months later, she was formally arrested. And in 2013, Li Shuang took his 18-year-old son to Sanlitun, where a blonde and blue-eyed foreign boy held hands with a beautiful Chinese girl in a café, free and casual. Li Shuang's emotions "came up all of a sudden", she recalled this scene to reporters with a smile, "I suddenly felt that my two years were worth it, and the two years of imprisonment were not in vain, and I could be regarded as doing something unintentionally."
