NAS to watch TV丨QNAP watches its own IPTV and builds a streaming media video library

Mondo Technology Updated on 2024-02-24

Solemnly declare: The TV programs described in this article are not pirated links and are not third-party platforms. Just watch the programs on the IPTV set-top box sent by your own operator, and I pay the broadband fee on time, and the broadband** includes IPTV services.

Foreword

Hello everyone, I'm Caribbean Cowes and it's a pleasure to see you all again.

I went back to my hometown village during the Chinese New Year, and found that now the family likes to use mobile phones, but the big TV has been neglected, and there are few scenes where everyone gets together to watch TV programs. So what's the problem? The set-top box boots up a little slowly, there is a pop-up window when it starts, and it can only be full-screen manually, which really consumes the enthusiasm of the family, how can there be Douyin to move your fingers. I once used soft router to toss IPTV multicast, but I didn't do it again after getting out of the machine, and recently I found that QNAP's NAS network settings can actually set VLAN, so can I directly use NAS as multicast**? After a simple attempt, the results were surprisingly good and the problem was solved!

The NAS I used is the QNAP TS-855X, which uses the Intel Atom C5125 processor, 8 cores and 8 threads, and is very high-performance, which can be used for enterprise-level multi-VM deployments. It offers 6 blocks of 35-inch HDD with 2 blocks 2The 5-inch SSD storage bay and 2 NVMe SSD bay slots provide 2 2s5G network port and 1 x 10GbE network port, plus 2 PCIe30*4 expansion card slots. The storage performance and expansion performance are full.

QNAP has a lot of advantages, which is why I chose it

1. As the world's top NAS brand, QNAP has powerful hardware and systems, and has provided many enterprises with stable storage services for many years, both in operation and after-sales service.

2. QNAP has extremely complete functions, and its virtual machine, Docker, and data protection functions are the best in the NAS field, so there is nothing wrong with choosing QNAP.

3. Exclusive Qtier technology. QNAP supports the integration of SSDs and HDDs to form a storage pool that combines the speed of SSDs with the capacity of HDDs.

4. Exclusive HBS3 application. (The best 3-2-1 data backup principle implementation application, the best among all NAS vendors)

5. Mainland server bandwidth upgrade. (Even if you don't have a public IP, the Internet access speed is still at full speed.)

6. Exclusive virtual machine technology. (Very powerful, support multiple virtual machines, full machine backup, and unified management) (also support HDMI direct out).

7. Exclusive snapshot technology. (Archiving the entire storage pool in real time).

8. Personally, I currently use all protocol connections, QNAP NAS supports all protocols, stable and full speed without lagging.

Check out the tutorial next.

1. Set up an IPTV multicast VLAN

Open your modem admin background, usually 192168.1.1. If you can't get into the modem address after bridging the router, you can also connect your mobile phone to the WiFi of the modem. The user name of the telecom supercontroller is Telecomadmin, and the password is NE7JA%5M, if the optical modem is to dynamically change the password, then you can only ask the installation and maintenance master IPTV's VLAN, and the number has not changed in the same area.

After entering, click on the network network settings network connection, the first line of connection name drop-down can see several connections, TR069 is management, voice is**, other is the IPTV we are looking for, note the number behind the other B vid, as shown in the figure 43.

If the Other B Vid 43 does not have a binding port, it means that any port of the modem supports IPTV, and if there is a bound port, then please bind VLAN43 to the network port where QNAP is located. Now we open QNAP's Settings Network & Virtual Switch Network Adapter, select the ellipsis on the far right of the network port of the current connection, add the VLAN, fill in the number 43 you just wrote down and apply.

After that, you will find that QNAP has magically obtained an IP that is completely different from the current network segment, which is actually allocated to the IPTV set-top box. If you don't get the IP, look at the VLAN ID in the modem and set the IPTV from the gateway (automatic), you really can't select a static address in the previous step and blindly fill in an IP that is not the current network segment, after all, we only receive multicast signals.

2. Establish a UDP** container.

Next, open QNAP Container Manager, install a UDPXY (this is a traffic relay that turns UDP multicast data streams into TCP unicast streams), and create a container station application with the program name UDPXY, yaml**:

version: "3"services: udpxy: container_name: udpxy image: agrrh/udpxy:latest network_mode: host restart: always command: -t -p 4022 -m eth0.43

Pay special attention to the last line**, p is the **port, the default is 4022, -m is the **network port, I used the VLAN43 network of QNAP first network port (eth0), then it is eth043. You can check the status of the UDPXY by using http: QNAP NAS IP:4022 Status, UDPXY can be connected to the IPTV network on the telecom optical modem, no dial-up, no box, and multicast.

3. Edit the M3U multicast list.

So how do you look at your home's multicast list? First of all, the multicast list of each city of the same operator is universal, you can go to github to see if there is a ready-made list, or go to the Enshan forum and other places to search, for example, if you are a Chengdu Telecom user, go to the Internet to search: Chengdu Telecom multicast.

There are two formats for the multicast list on the Internet, one is the original multicast address, such as RTP, and the other is prefixed with **, for example, the RTP multicast address is followed by UDP, and the UDP is the UDPXY** address and port installed in the previous step, which you need to process as http: QNAP IP: 4022 UDP multicast address.

4. **TV Programs.

On the intranet computer, PotPlayer can directly open the edited multicast list M3U, and you can watch the programs on IPTV, the operator's IPTV bitrate starts at 8Mbps, and the quality and stability are good, as long as QNAP is turned on, you can always **.

If you are an Apple user, aptv is recommended, it is free, and you can use AppleTV, iPad, iPhone**. If you want to go on the Internet**, we recommend Emby Jellyfin Plex and import that list.

If it is a TV**, tivimate is recommended as a software, and the switching is smooth. In addition, it also supports multi-split screen, when I watch the Chinese New Year's Eve party, it is four parties played together, who is singing will switch to which station, QNAP nas**4-way multicast performance is good, the overall ** experience is great.

Of course, in addition to watching TV, you can also use NAS to build streaming ** video tutorials.

At present, the commonly used streaming tools are plex, emby, infuse, and kodi, which are very easy to use, but there are slight differences, because QNAP has built-in plex, and I happened to buy plex lifetime membership, so I personally use plex the most.

Plex is a complete set of streaming solutions (server + client), Plex applications support a wide range of platforms and devices, such as Android TV, Apple TV, smart TV, and other devices that use streaming**; Android, iOS mobile devices; It also supports Windows and macOS computers; Support some home accessories smart devices; It even supports consoles like PlayStation, NVIDA Shield, Xbox One, and more.

Its server-side is used to manage all kinds of ** (movies, episodes, **home**) client is used to solve** (there are Mac, PC, iOS, Android, Xbox, PS, various TV, Raspberry Pi, etc.) Users can install Plex Media Server on the computer or NAS, use iPad, iPhone or Android phone, set-top box browsing and**all kinds of multi** (photos and**) In addition, you can also choose***

Due to QNAP's strong performance + expansion capabilities, players have no problem dealing with personal data or home audio-visual entertainment.
