"Treatise on Typhoid Fever and Miscellaneous Diseases" is the hand-me-down work of the medical saint Zhang Zhongjing, which embodies Zhongjing's wisdom and hard work. After several revisions, the final version was finalized as the Baiyun Pavilion version. This version was originally in the secret collection of Zhang Shaozu, the forty-sixth grandson of Zhongjingzhi, and was later passed on to Zuo Shengde and then to Luo Zhechu. Mr. Huang Zhuzhai was fortunate to get this book in ** 24 years, and felt that its value was extraordinary, so he copied a copy by hand, and later got the financial support of the patriotic general Mr. Zhang Fang, and carved a woodblock. This woodblock was tossed and turned in the war, fortunately preserved, and is now stored in the Nanyang Medical Shrine in Henan, and is admired by later generations of doctors. This "Treatise on Typhoid Fever and Miscellaneous Diseases" takes the "Six Classics" as the outline, classifying external fever and internal medicine miscellaneous diseases according to the disease syndrome, and the outline is clear and organized. In terms of typhoid fever, the pathology, syndrome, treatment and prognosis of typhoid fever were elaborated in detail, and the syndrome differentiation method of "six meridian syndromes" was proposed, which provided an important theoretical and practical basis for the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine. In terms of miscellaneous diseases, it includes the best methods of a variety of diseases, involving various clinical departments, rich in content and detailed discussions. In addition, the Baiyun Pavilion is also accompanied by Mr. Huang Zhuzhai's notes and commentaries, which have a lot of play and elaboration on Zhongjing's theory.
Treatise on Typhoid Fever and Miscellaneous Diseases is one of the four classics of Chinese medicine and is known as a treasure of ancient Chinese medicine. As one of its original editions, the Baiyun Pavilion book has important historical, documentary and scholarly value. Today, it still has important guiding significance for the clinical, teaching and scientific research of TCM, and is a must-read book for TCM students.
However, the original manuscript of "Treatise on Typhoid Fever and Miscellaneous Diseases" has been dispersed, and most of the extant editions are biographies or proofnotes from the Ming and Qing dynasties. As the only handed down version of the original manuscript, the Baiyun Pavilion not only has high documentary value, but also is an indispensable and precious material in the history of traditional Chinese medicine. It is hoped that more people can understand and cherish this precious cultural heritage, inherit and carry forward the Zhongjing theory, and contribute to the development of traditional Chinese medicine.
