In Excel, setting the filter small arrow is achieved by enabling the data filtering function. These small arrows appear in the header cell of each filterable column, allowing you to filter or sort the data as needed. Here are the steps on how to enable filtering in Excel:

Select a data range

If your data has header rows (i.e., a header describing the column's data at the top of each column), first select the entire data range that contains the headers. If you don't have a header row, simply select the range that contains the data you want to filter on.

If you want to enable filtering for the entire worksheet, you can select no cells or select the entire worksheet.

Enable filtering

Click the "Sort & Filter" button on the "Start" tab and select "Filter", or simply click the "Filter" button on the "Data" tab. This will add a drop-down arrow to each column header for the selected range.

You can also use shortcut keysctrl + shift + lto toggle the filtering function on and off.

Filter the data: Click the drop-down arrow next to the column header and you'll see a filter menu. In this menu, you can select a specific value to filter the column, or use other filters, such as text filters or number filters.

Clear the filter: To clear the filter and display all data, you can click the Filter button again, or select Clear Filter in the filter menu.

When filtering is enabled, only rows that match the filter criteria are displayed, and other rows are hidden. This does not delete or modify any data, it only temporarily changes the visibility of the data.

If your data is already a table (created using the Format as **), the filter arrows will appear automatically and you don't need to manually enable filtering.

When using filtering, make sure that the data doesn't have blank rows or columns, which can cause filtering to be incorrectly applied to some of the data.

By enabling and using the filter function, you can easily manage and analyze large amounts of data in Excel and improve your work efficiency.
