Open paint and closed paint are two different wood surface treatment processes, which are different in terms of appearance effect, construction method, performance characteristics, etc.:
1.Appearance:
Open lacquer: This lacquer usually has no or less filler added, and the grain of the wood (wood eye) remains noticeably exposed after spraying, retaining the natural grain and touch of the wood. Open lacquer is suitable for woods with coarse or rich grains, such as ash, birch, oak, etc., and can bring out the original beauty of wood.
Sealing paint: Sealing paint contains more filler, and the grain of the wood is completely or partially covered after spraying, the surface is smooth, and the wood eye is enclosed under the paint layer. This lacquer is suitable for all woods, especially those with less visible grains, and can provide a more uniform and smooth appearance.
2.Construction Method:
The application of open lacquer is relatively complex, requiring precise control of the thickness of the lacquer and the drying process to ensure the natural presentation of the wood grain.
The application of the sealing paint is relatively simple, as it requires a filler that can fill the unevenness of the wood surface, making the application process easier to control.
3.Performance characteristics:
Open paints generally have better air permeability, but may not be as abrasion and scratch resistant as closed paints. It focuses more on showcasing the natural beauty of the wood, but may require more maintenance.
Sealant paints, on the other hand, provide better protection and are more resistant to abrasion and scratches, but may sacrifice some of the natural grain of the wood.
Due to its process complexity and the requirement for the preservation of the wood grain, open lacquer is usually higher than closed lacquer.
5.Application Scenarios:
Open lacquer is suitable for furniture and décor in the pursuit of a natural, vintage or rustic style, as well as for those occasions that want to highlight the character of the wood itself.
Closed paints are ideal for modern, minimalist furniture, as well as for applications that require smooth surfaces and easy cleaning and maintenance.
When choosing an open or closed paint, the decision should be made based on the actual needs, the characteristics of the wood and the expected decorative effect. Anti-alkali sealing primer
