In our emotional world, there is a fundamental difference between anger and disappointment. Anger is like a thunderstorm in summer, it comes and goes quickly. As long as you coax, you can get through the rain. Disappointment is not. It was like a boulder, weighing heavily on my heart and making people breathless. Whatever you do, you won't change it in the slightest, it will only add to the disappointment.
Anger and disappointment are also two common emotions in life. They are like two parallel lines, sometimes intersecting, sometimes separate, but never fully merging. Anger is an instantaneous emotional outburst that is as short and brilliant as fireworksDisappointment is a deep emotional sinking, as silent and deep as the deep sea.
Perhaps, at first, you were still full of expectations, thinking that you could finally influence the other party with sincerity and make up for your mistakes with actions. But again and again, in exchange for only indifference and perfunctory, disappointment accumulates little by little.
You start to doubt yourself and wonder if your efforts are worth it. You feel like a joke, a clown trying to please others. You feel frustrated, you feel helpless. You start to think cranky, you start to deny yourself. You feel like you're worthless, unworthy of love, unworthy of happiness. You become inferior and sensitive. Other people's unintentional words can make you sad and cry. You start escaping from reality, you start numbing yourself with alcohol, drugs, or whatever. You don't want to face your own disappointment, you don't want to face that scarred self.
But evasion won't solve the problem, it will only make it worse. Disappointment is like a demon that will devour your soul little by little and make you unrecognizable. If you're experiencing disappointment, don't despair. Remember, you're not alone. There are many others who, like you, have experienced the pain of disappointment. But they all came back to life and became better people.
Perhaps, what you need to do is to face your own disappointment. Admit your failures and accept your imperfections. Then, forgive yourself and let yourself go. You have to understand that disappointment is not your fault. It's just an experience in life, a growth. You can't control other people's actions, but you can control your own attitudes.
You can choose to continue sinking, or you can choose to pick yourself up. You can choose to continue to feel sorry for yourself, or you can choose to start over.
If you choose to pick yourself up, if you choose to start over, then disappointment will be your motivation to move forward. It will make you stronger, braver, and more mature. You have to believe that you deserve a better life. You have to believe that happiness lies ahead.
Perhaps, the road is difficult, maybe, you will encounter a lot of setbacks. But as long as you persevere, you will definitely reach your destination. Don't let disappointment defeat you, let it be a stepping stone to your success. Make it the most valuable asset in your life. On the road of life, it is inevitable to encounter disappointments. But as long as we don't give up and don't get discouraged, one day we will come out of the haze and usher in the sunshine.
