According to it, the deployment of 5G networks in local large cities using Russian base stations is expected to start in 2026. This development work is carried out within the framework of a roadmap in the direction of "modern and future mobile communication networks", which sets out a series of goals that need to be achieved by 2030.
In August last year, Russia published a draft strategy for the development of communications. By 2035, all cities with a population of more than 100,000 will deploy 5G networks using homegrown equipment, the draft states.
As previously reported, Russian Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Shadaev said at the end of last year at the Russian exhibition and forum that Russia is ready to start preparations for network services in 2025, planning to connect Russian base stations to friendly countries. As for the 6G network, Shadaev said that the issue is currently being studied, and research and development work will begin in 2024.
