In this small world, she can freely design according to her preferences.At first, the girl didn't have too many harsh requirements for the living environment. She enjoys wine tasting, reading, and a penchant for orderly storage. What's even more surprising is that she loves to travel, and sometimes when you look at her travel works, you really think she is a "professional landscape photographer".
For her nest, she hopes that the space is simple but has some retro atmosphere, and hopes to integrate natural elements to make the space play the role of **, just like nature.
Before the renovation, this small duplex had an area of only 36, a long depth, a narrow bay, and a relatively low floor height. Due to the fine decoration, the dimensions of the mezzanine floor slabs and staircase openings could not be adjusted. There is a staircase at the entrance, and there is no separate entrance area. The living room is small and needs to have a private balcony. The toilet and sink in the bathroom are cramped.
Floor plan adjustments.
Based on the needs of the homeowners, we redesigned the floor plan to incorporate lifestyle and interests into the spatial scale. Integrate the functional areas that are too isolated and scattered in the small space, and reorganize and transform the circulation line.
The key to the renovation is to arrange the functional areas along the wall to make the active lines smoother and facilitate the integration of the functional areas. By changing the direction of the stairs upstairs, a separate entrance hall is formed.
Renovation highlights. 1. Integration area on the first floor: The entrance hall, stairs, and sofa card seat area are integrated into a whole, which solves the problems of shoe storage, daily storage, refrigerator storage, stair steps, and sideboards.
2. Renovation of the balcony on the first floor: According to the needs of the owner, the balcony on the first floor is made into an independent laundry and drying area.
3. Three-stage arrangement of the bathroom: The bathroom on the first floor has been rearranged.
4. Renovation of the second floor: After changing the direction of the staircase, the cloakroom and hallway become a transitional buffer in and out of the bedroom, enhancing privacy. Shaped partition walls optimise light and ensure that the space is spacious.
Overall, the space presents a mildly retro atmosphere and is designed from a natural angle, making it a first-class space. The owner's photographs also became one of the inspirations for the design.
Brown, earthy yellow, dark green, apricot and other colors are used to create a warm and natural atmosphere. Materials such as vintage handmade bricks and wooden floors add a rustic and relaxing taste, while stainless steel and geometric lines retain a clean, modern feel.
In the design of the entrance, there is a shoe cabinet and a shoe changing stool on the right side, and a wooden full-length mirror can be hung on the wall in the later stage to meet the functions of shoe storage, shoe changing, and instrument inspection. The shoe cabinet is consistent with the color of the wall and ceiling, which makes the overall feeling better, and at the same time stretches the floor height.
The floor of the entrance is made of gray terrazzo floor tiles, with an original and rough texture, which contrasts with the interior wooden floor, highlighting the warm sense of home.
A multi-functional locker is designed under the staircase step, which not only solves the daily storage of miscellaneous items, but also has a built-in refrigerator, and the suitcase can also be easily stored. The stool for changing shoes in the entrance is from a German home furnishing brand, which has a high appearance, and sometimes it is even moved to the living room for a small gathering of friends.
The walls of the kitchen are enclosed with small green squares, while the base cabinets are based on bright retro yellow, which is embellished with small areas of color blocks to give the space more vitality. The choice of range hood is small enough to meet the demand.
This kitchenette is equipped with a sink, induction cooker and range hood, which is connected to the bar as a complete module. When cooking, the bar can be easily used for chopping and preparing food, and then food can be served on one side, and the bar can also be used as a table.
The bar is curved towards the aisle end, which is not obtrusive and reduces the risk of collisions when walking.
Slim legs have been chosen for both the dining table and the dining chairs to reduce the sense of presence and keep the space airy. A lightweight stainless steel saucer-shaped chandelier hangs above, echoing the dining table and chairs, while adding a modern touch to the mildly retro style.

There was no wall between the original balcony and the living room, and the designer set up a half-wall here to form an enclosed sense of the functional area of the TV cabinet.
The original sliding door was canceled and replaced with a lattice window, which increased the layering of shadows on a sunny day.
Since the house is located on the upper floor, there is no obstruction outside the window, but the living room does not need to be completely blacked out, so the curtains made of coarse linen were chosen, which mainly played the role of soft light. Paired with the greenery in the interior, it creates a holiday feeling.
Due to the limited width of the living room, the sofa area adopts a booth design to reduce the crowding of the activity space. The open cabinet at the bottom replaces the side table and holds some books and handy-items at the same time.
The chandelier next to the sofa serves as the main illumination at night, and the soft warm light provides a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for movie-watching, relaxation and socializing.
The soft furnishings and accessories follow the overall style, with natural materials paired with vintage textures and styles, all infused with earthy tones.
Scattered dried flowers and wabi-sabi-style decorative paintings present a simple and vaguely luxurious aesthetic.
The TV cabinet is eliminated on the opposite side of the sofa, and the TV with bracket is placed on the floor, which is convenient for flexible adjustment according to different scenes.
The open cabinet on the TV is mainly used to display art, books or drinks, and runs through the wall of the living room and dining room, improving the utilization of space.
The decorative paintings are arranged in the sofa area, while the upper floors also become a focal point.
Stair treads can be used as a relaxation area, providing a higher perspective for relaxing or interacting with visitors.
In order to reduce the presence of the staircase, a panel of the same color as the wall was chosen.
From the angle of the staircase, the wooden floor of the entire room is narrow, making it seem spacious even in a small space.
The cloakroom on the second floor is divided into a storage area and a display area. The storage area is mainly used to store clothes, while the display area can be used for bags or hats. The solid wood panel echoes the solid wood door on the right. The original ceiling was surrounded by beams, which were transformed into decorations with ambient light strips after the design and renovation.
Louvered doors have better air permeability, and although they are not as dustproof as closed doors, they are not much different in daily use. The decoration of the doorknob can be changed at will according to the mood.
The walls are filled with the indispensable full-length mirrors, and in the hallway area leading to the bedrooms, a ceremonial arch is designed. The partition wall with the partition wall and the partition wall of the bedroom form a bright spot, making the light more varied.
As a transitional space for a small one-man apartment, the picture window plays multiple roles while connecting the space, the partition wall adds a sense of security to the seating area, and the light brings a sense of pleasure to the heart.

The original large-area sliding door is not only not friendly to privacy and cleaning, the design has been optimized, the washbasin has been enlarged, the alcove has been added, and the mirror headlight has been chosen as an airtight style, which can be adjusted to ensure that the light is even.
