Ericsson launches 12 new hardware and software solutions

Mondo Technology Updated on 2024-02-21

(GLOBE NEWSWIRE, Feb. 20, 2024) -- Ericsson today announced 12 new hardware and software solutions that broadly enhance its wireless, transmission and antenna portfolios to enable service providers (CSPs) to deploy high-performance, sustainable and open networks. Among them, the Air 3255 is a massive MIMO time division duplex (TDD) wireless device that saves more than 25% energy and reduces carbon footprint by 20% compared to the previous generation of wireless devices. The Air 3255 features new small metal filter technology that scales up to all TDD sub-6GHz bands to facilitate the deployment of 5G mid-bands. In addition, the Air 3255 uses only one printed circuit board (PCB), which is unique in the industry. At the same time, the Air 3255 uses passive cooling technology.

Together with the Air 3255, the following new wireless products will make Ericsson's wireless product family even more powerful:

Boost 5G performance

Air3284 (32T 32R): Tri-band Massive MIMO FDD, which increases the downlink capacity by 2x and the uplink capacity by 4x compared to 4T 4R.

Radio 4823 (4T 8R): Double the uplink performance while supporting 2Independent ESC (RET) on the 6GHz band, allowing for extended coverage or capacity.

Air 5343: It can be used in high-capacity, high-performance macro station deployment scenarios, with an extended coverage of up to 11 dB.

Ultra-light mid-band TDD wireless devices

Radio 4461 hp (high power): 50% more power and 42% lower carbon footprint.

Radio 8873: Available in both standard and high power (HP) versions.

Ericsson also introduced three software features: uplink multi-user massive MIMO FDD, uplink-aware multilayer network collaboration, and automated energy saver (AES).

Ericsson is also introducing a new generation of transmission and antenna solutions: the mini-link 6355 and antenna 4206.
