Compare with yourself: people are on the road of growth, while observing themselves, doubting themselves, and changing themselves
A friend came to ask: After reading your article, I can understand the truth of recognizing oneself and giving full play to one's strengths.
But the problem is that I was born with no talent, and compared with those excellent people, I am just an ordinary person, and I have no advantage at all!
With this question, I would like to express my point.
The reason why people feel pain is that they always compare themselves to others.
What others have, I don't; What others can do, I can't.
But everyone has their own personality and characteristics, and these things are unique and always have their value.
If you simply and rudely compare the "absolute value" of a certain aspect with others, it is not rational and objective.
Instead, pay attention to yourself and pay attention to your own growth and progress with a dynamic vision, which can make you patient and find a development path that suits you.
So, I think, to compare, to compare with yourself.
As Hemingway said: being superior to others is not noble, and true nobility is being superior to oneself in the past.
When you know how to stop comparing yourself to others and focus on your own growth and progress, you will become rational and objective.
Just like my writing, I don't have to compare people to who writes better.
I just quietly have a dialogue with my heart, using words to record change and growth, even the smallest bits. But these are objective data, not something I imagined out of thin air, and they can truly reflect and show my personal growth.
If I can keep doing this, I'll always "taste" the benefits.
This dynamic thinking has also led me to make changes in my actions:
You don't have to think too perfectly about doing things.
There is no perfect strategy, no ideal plan, and no perfect plan.
Rather than spending too much time building the perfect plan at the beginning, it's better to get yourself up and running first, and the sooner you act, the less trial and error will cost.
It's like my writing, there is no way to take a trick, and it is impossible to write a hit article at once, but I just force myself to output a little bit every day, and after a long time, there will always be some gains.
Instead of taking shortcuts, making surprise moves, and taking shortcuts, it is better to practice the basic skills honestly.
Although this approach is slightly clumsy, it is solid enough, and as long as it crosses the critical point in the later stage, there will be explosive growth.
Finally, to sum up:
The biggest difference between humans and animals is that they can continue to grow, constantly improve their abilities, and constantly break through their limits.
Therefore, to compare with oneself: people are on the road of growth, observing themselves, doubting themselves, and changing themselves.
For example, my goal is to become a "better person" by constantly learning and constantly updating my philosophy
Through "self-reflection", we have been reviewing our own shortcomings and finding our own problems and gaps;
Through "deliberate practice", constantly pondering, repeated practice, and improving the way of thinking;
Through "self-imposed pressure", take the initiative to jump out of your own circle and constantly expand your circle of ability.
As your ability increases, so does the range of things you can do. The more things you can do, the more opportunities you have to succeed in life.
