Hongzhuang Village is not near the river or lake, and there is no reservoir around it, so a cold-water fish farm can be built here, relying on the cold water resources of more than 100 acres of abandoned mine pits in the village.
The abandoned pit here is 100 meters deep, and the low-temperature water at the bottom of the pit is only about 11 degrees Celsius when the weather is hottest in summer, and after water quality testing, the pH, heavy metals and nitrite and other indicators are qualified, which is very suitable for breeding rainbow trout, golden trout, sturgeon and other cold-water fish. In 2019, Gao Wei aimed at the innate conditions here, devoted himself to the transformation and utilization of abandoned mines in the village, and developed cold-water fish farming, and has now built 27 fish breeding tanks, producing about 300,000 catties of fish per year, mainly sold to the Beijing-Tianjin market.

Qian'an thrived because of the mines, but it also left hundreds of abandoned mines in the local area due to years of mining.
