The Chinese People's Liberation Army established 16 corps during the revolutionary war years, three of which were adapted from the ** rebel forces. These corps are distributed throughout the country, and they not only participated in many important battles, but also continued to make important contributions to the cause of national construction after the founding of New China. The 22nd Corps was adapted from the ** Rebel Force, which was responsible for guarding Xinjiang.
After the liberation of Xinjiang, the two corps were reorganized into the Xinjiang Military Region and the Xinjiang Production Corps, which were respectively responsible for military and construction work. The Second Corps has participated in the liberation of the northwest region and the construction of China's armored forces. The Third and Fifth Corps participated in many important battles such as the Battle of Crossing the Yangtze River, and liberated Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guizhou, Xikang, Sichuan, Chongqing and other regions.
The commanders of these two corps became the commanders of the large military regions after the founding of New China, and the first of them became the first commanders of the people's artillery. The Fourth Corps played an important role in the southern expedition, and together with other troops, it liberated Guangzhou and Yunnan. After the Seventh Corps and the Eighth Corps participated in the battle to cross the river, the Zhejiang Military Region and the Jiangsu Military Region were established respectively.
After the liberation of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, the Ninth Corps became the first echelon of the attack on Taiwan, and later participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. After the liberation of Fujian, the 10th Corps was reorganized into the Fujian Military Region, while the 12th Corps moved to Beijing after the Battle of Hengbao and formed a naval headquarters.
Other corps also made important contributions in the War of Liberation, such as the 18th Corps and the 19th Corps, which participated in the Northwest Region and the Pingjin Campaign respectively, and continued to contribute to the cause of national construction after the founding of New China. Generally speaking, these 19 corps commanders are all outstanding contributors to the liberation cause, three of them have received the rank of general, and the rest of the corps commanders have the rank of general.
