In the TV series "Awakening Age", the images of Chen Duxiu's two sons are unforgettable. So, what did they really look like in history? Why is the fate of his son Chen Songnian different from that of Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian?
Let's find out. Chen Duxiu, a native of Huaining, Anhui Province, an advocate of the New Culture Movement and the commander-in-chief of the May Fourth Movement, is an important symbol of China's development. His son also died heroically on the road of revolution and made great contributions to the country.
Of Chen Duxiu's three sons, Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian were born in 1898 and 1902, while Chen Songnian was born in 1910.
Although Chen Songnian is also Chen Duxiu's son, Chen Duxiu seems to love them more than his two elder brothers. Soon after Chen Songnian was born, Chen Duxiu divorced his original wife, Gao Dazhong, and left Anqing with Gao Dazhong's sister Gao Junman.
Therefore, Chen Songnian does not have much memory of his father. As time passed, Chen Yannian and Chen Qiao began to devote themselves to studying, eager to go to a larger intellectual stage.
In 1915, they left their hometown to study in Shanghai. At that time, Chen Duxiu was editing "New Youth" in Shanghai.
New Youth" only Chen Songnian and his mother Gao Dazhong were left in the family, and Gao Dazhong did not give up education because of Chen Songnian's ordinariness, but began to guide him to contact progressive ideas when he was sensible.
Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian continued their studies at Aurora University in Shanghai, where the convergence of new ideas and the edification of the school environment greatly improved their thinking.
In December 1919, they went to France to study and began to be influenced by Marxism. Under the influence of the May Fourth Patriotic Movement, in order to seek the truth of saving the country and the people, and under the teaching of ***, Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian formally believed in Marxism through serious study and practical struggle for more than three years in France.
Chen Songnian and Chen Yannian were two brothers, who were unable to study abroad because of academic problems, and Chen Songnian stepped into the society at an early age. In 1922, the two brothers Chen Yannian returned to the motherland and officially joined the Communist Party of China with the approval of the Communist Party of China.
Chen Yannian once served as the secretary of the Guangdong District Party Committee, and at the party meeting, he called Chen Duxiu and Chen Qiaonian as "comrades". During Chen Yannian's tenure as party general secretary, he made a clear distinction between public and private, and even if the object of criticism was his father, he would not favor his shortcomings.
He dared to boldly criticize Chen Duxiu, and even pointed out that although his father was knowledgeable, he could not set up his heart for heaven and earth and for the revolution, and bluntly said that there was no essential difference between his father and illiterate.
The Zhongshan ship incident in Guangzhou caused irreconcilable contradictions between Chen Yannian and his father. He accused his father, Chen Duxiu, of adopting a policy of appeasement and concession to Chiang Kai-shek's sabotage of the Kuomintang-Communist cooperation and exclusion of the Communist Party, believing that Chen Duxiu had become an old fool.
Chen Yannian's indignation made him hate Chiang Kai-shek to the core, which also laid the groundwork for him to be ordered by Chiang Kai-shek later. In April 1927, Chiang Kai-shek betrayed the revolution, and Chen Yannian was sent to Shanghai to serve as the secretary of the Zhejiang District Party Committee.
However, danger followed.
Chiang Kai-shek, who was at the meeting, received a report that a traffic officer**, and after learning that the traffic officer knew about the secret place, he immediately ordered everyone to evacuate. At three o'clock in the afternoon, in order to destroy the documents, Chen Yannian and others planned to enter the gate and burn the secret materials in the office, but the enemy came too quickly.
Yang Hu of the Shanghai Garrison Command sent a large number of personnel to surround them. Chen Yannian, who had long expected that he might be the best, risked his life to hand over the written letter to Wang Mengzou.
Wang Mengzou, who got the news, immediately asked Hu Shi for help, and Hu Shi thought of Chiang Kai-shek's confidant Wu Zhihui, hoping that he could help Chen Yannian out of his predicament. However, this decision pushed Chen Yannian to a desperate situation.
Hu Shi did not expect that Wu Zhihui would reveal Chen Yannian's identity at this critical moment, which made him realize that Chen Yannian's true identity was related to Chen Duxiu. So, he decided to denounce Chiang Kai-shek for his appreciation, and sent a message to Yang Hu to confirm that Chen Yannian's identity had been exposed.
Chiang Kai-shek, who learned of Chen Yannian's true identity, was furious and immediately ordered his execution. On July 4, 1927, nine days after Chen Yannian's arrest, the enemy secretly escorted him to the execution ground and made him stand and hacked to death.
After Chen Yannian's death, Chiang Kai-shek ordered no one to dispose of his body. In this regard, Hu Shi felt very angry and disappointed. He didn't expect Wu Zhihui to be so fickle and inconsistent.
However, there is nothing he can do about it. Since then, China has lost an outstanding young leader, Chen Yannian.
Chen Duxiu's daughter Yuying received an order to bring back the body of her brother Chen Yannian and actively rescue other ** revolutionaries. Yuying didn't expect that a year later, she would have to collect the body of her younger brother Chen Qiaonian, why is this, what happened?
In the winter of 1927, Chen Qiaonian took over his brother's mission and was ordered to go to Shanghai to serve as the head of the Jiangsu Provincial Organization Department of the Communist Party of China. At that time, the conditions in Shanghai were extremely harsh, the Kuomintang reactionaries began to capture the communists and the revolutionary masses on a large scale, the party organizations were also seriously damaged, and the whole of Shanghai was full of dangers.
But Chen Qiaonian was fearless, and he was determined to lead his comrades to hold on to Shanghai. However, he was betrayed anyway.
Chen Qiaonian was betrayed by traitors and was surrounded by enemies. The party organization immediately launched a rescue plan, and Chen Qiaonian did not reveal his identity at this time, and everything seemed to be under control.
However, Zhou Zhichu's father begged for help out of pity, but unexpectedly indirectly exposed Chen Qiaonian's identity.
In the TV series "Awakening Age", Chen Qiaonian found that his identity had been revealed, and in order to ensure the safety of his comrades in the party, he asked the party not to rescue him again.
Although the Kuomintang tortured Chen Qiaonian many times, he remained loyal and unyielding, and swore to die. Finally, on June 6, 1928, Chen Qiaonian was shot dead by the enemy on the bank of the Fenglin Bridge in Shanghai at the age of 26.
His sister, Chen Yuying, was devastated by the fact that her brother and brother were killed by the enemy, and she fell ill in a fit of rage and died soon after at the age of 28. And Chen Songnian never knew about the death of his brothers, and he didn't know about it until his sister died.
Chen Songnian lived in pain of losing his loved ones, and the death of his mother made him even more sad. In 1930, his mother Gao Zhong passed away at the age of 54, and Chen Songnian was left with only his grandmother.
He longed to hear from his father, but his impression of him was vague. So, he decided to stay in his hometown. However, two years later, the news of his father, Chen Duxiu's imprisonment, shattered his peaceful life.
Chen Duxiu was imprisoned by the Kuomintang, and Chen Songnian saw his father for the first time, feeling both familiar and strange. Since then, he has visited his father frequently in prison, which has become a part of his life.
Chen Duxiu, a great patriot of modern China, is also one of the main founders of the Communist Party of China. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he was released early, and the first thing he did was to make anti-Japanese speeches, denouncing the Kuomintang for spending 100,000 yuan to ask him to set up another party.
In 1938, he came to live in Jiangjin, where he spent his old age. In his later years, he helped his father move his grave and was also taken care of by the chairman. However, in 1939, his condition began to deteriorate, coupled with the departure of his old friend Li Dazhao and others, the death of Yannian and Qiao Nian left him exhausted.
On May 27, 1942, he pulled Chen Songnian by his side and told him not to cry and to live strongly. This is Chen Duxiu, a great patriot, a selfless leader, and a person who is always worthy of our learning and admiration.
Chen Duxiu's third wife, Pan Lanzhen, has been taking care of Chen Duxiu when he was down, she is the same age as Chen Songnian, and gets along well with Chen Songnian's family, and the children call her "second grandmother".
Chen Duxiu once told Chen Songnian that his greatest wish was to return to his hometown, and he died soon after at the age of sixty-three. Although Chen Duxiu has left, Chen Songnian is no stranger to handling funerals, and he is personally responsible for the funerals at home.
Soon after arriving in Jiangjin, his grandmother died, and now that his father has also left, Chen Songnian is determined to take his father and grandmother back to their hometown.
Chen Songnian (second from left) Because the family had no savings and the situation was turbulent at that time, Chen Songnian had to ask the gentry in Jiangjin for help, temporarily buried his father in Kangzhuang, and specially invited his father's friends to write "The Tomb of Mr. Duxiu".
In front of his father's tombstone, Chen Songnian vowed to bring his father home. After that, he began to save money just to bring his father home. By February 1947, Chen Songnian felt that the time was ripe.
Yejiachong, the north gate of Anqing, became the location of Chen Duxiu's tombstone later, but due to the turbulent situation, in order to protect his father's cemetery, Chen Songnian deliberately wrote the name of "Chen Qiansheng" on the tombstone as a cover-up.
Chen Songnian worked hard in his hometown to support his family, until the arrival of *** in 1953 changed all that. That year, **ride** in the Yangtze River basin to investigate, passing through Anqing, I had a lot of feelings about the local area, he once had a friend Chen Duxiu, who was also a person here, and the name of the mountain here coincided.
** Inquired about the status of Chen Duxiu's descendants and learned that his son Chen Songnian worked in the cave to make a living. Hearing Chen Songnian's predicament, ** was deeply shocked, and immediately ordered someone to sponsor him, and specially instructed ** to take more care.
Although Chen Songnian did not embark on the revolutionary road like his father and brother, his life was full of twists and turns, and he never used his father's identity for profit.
Chen Songnian, a laborer from an ordinary family, was able to make a living because of the care of the party and the state. The monthly subsidy of 30 yuan is undoubtedly a relief for their family.
Chen Songnian said excitedly: "Thank you to the party, thank you to the chairman, and thank you for the concern of the leaders." Relying on this subsidy and his own efforts, Chen Songnian raised three children, and they are also very competitive.
The eldest daughter became a national engineer, the second daughter became the deputy director of the Cultural Relics Administration, and the eldest son studied fluid mechanics and engineering. Chen Songnian's life was full of ups and downs and hardships, but he never asked ** for help.
His tenacity and independence are deeply admired. His elder brothers, Yan Nian and Qiao Nian, are also great figures, and their love and support for Chen Songnian is an important factor in Chen Songnian's ability to overcome difficulties.
In addition, Chen Songnian's father, Chen Duxiu, and the leader *** Their spirit and leadership are also important supports for Chen Songnian to live. Salute to Chen Songnian, to his brothers Yannian and Qiao Nian, and to the great leaders Chen Duxiu and ***.
They are our role models, and their spirit will always inspire us to move forward.
