Finnair said it would have to cancel some flights due to widespread strikes in Finland and multiple unions going on strike from February 1 to February 2, 2024, according to ***flying. The airline said it allowed passengers to reschedule their flights.
The airline was unable to determine the exact number of flights affected by the strike. In a statement released on January 29, the airline detailed that the airline would be forced to cancel about 550 flights due to strike action on February 1 and February 2.
Finnair said it had an average of about 280 flights a day, meaning most of its trips would be cancelled during the two-day labor action. Despite this, the airline still plans to operate a small number of flights during the strike and will communicate with customers whose flights will not be affected by the strike.
Finnair noted that ground handling services, including baggage loading and in-flight catering, could also be affected. This may result in delays in flights operating during the 48-hour strike. The airline also warned that it could take up to two days to process passengers' requests to cancel or reschedule flights due to the high number of cancellations and passengers.
