A boy gets stuck in the throat.
Critical moments. A passenger attendant and a military medical passenger relay to save people.
It happened at around 5 p.m. on Feb. 12. According to the boy's mother, Ms. Fang, on the same day, he and his 8-year-old son were about to travel to Poyang, Jiangxi Province, and while waiting for the bus, the child was eating candy while playing, and accidentally stuck the candy in his throat. After learning about the situation, Wang Yang, the passenger attendant, rushed to the rescue as soon as possible.
Wang Yang, passenger attendant at Shangrao High-speed Railway Station: After we saw this situation, we followed Heimlich's emergency treatment method, pressed our hands on the child's stomach, two fingers up the navel, and held the fist of the right hand with the left hand, and made an abdominal position to the child.
Wang Yang used the Heimlich treatment method to continue to compress the boy, and after that, the boy gradually calmed down.
Wang Yang, passenger attendant at Shangrao High-speed Railway Station: After two or three minutes, the child may spit out the sugar, and he will not cry or make trouble. Later, a military doctor came over, he showed his ID, and he also checked it for us.
After making sure that the child was in good health, the mother and son boarded the train to Poyang on time. Wang Yang told the city reporter that their station will regularly organize employees to conduct Red Cross rescue training, such as simple cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Heimlich first aid, etc., all of which are learned in the training.
Wang Yang, passenger attendant at Shangrao high-speed rail station: When this happens, we have no hesitation to use the skills we have learned to help passengers.
