Beijing, 25 Feb (ZXS) -- Taiwan Businessmen's New Year Friendship: Optimistic About the Mainland's Prospects Cross-strait economic and trade relations "cannot be interrupted and will not be interrupted."
Written by Zhu He.
Many Taiwan businessmen, like me, have been deeply involved in the mainland market for decades, and they have been 'like a fish in water and full of harvests.'Now, as the mainland's economic development has entered a new stage, it is all the more necessary to take advantage of the situation and seize new opportunities. On the 24th, Guo Shanhui, honorary president of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Enterprises, said when sharing his hard work experience with a reporter from China News Service in Beijing.
On the same day, about 200 guests from both sides of the strait, including Guo Shanhui, attended the 2024 "Celebrating the Lantern Festival and Welcoming Reunion" Taiwan Business Friendship Event held by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China and the Taiwan Affairs Office. Many Taiwan businessmen expressed optimism about the mainland's economic prospects and hoped to follow the "pulse" of the policy to explore business opportunities. When it comes to economic cooperation, they believe that cross-strait economic and trade integration "cannot and will not be interrupted."
Guo Shanhui observed that in recent years, many Taiwan businessmen have been developing diffusion from the mainland's Pearl River Delta region to the central and western regions, and believes that "this is the trend of the future."
Delta Group, which "landed" in 1992, has been closely following the trend of mainland policy and has continued to benefit from it. Hai Yingjun, chairman of the group, said that the company spent about 14 at the end of last yearRMB 500 million to invest in the western manufacturing base in Chongqing, planning to promote intelligent manufacturing based on big data, focusing on the development of communications, automotive electronics and other related products; As of the end of last year, 91% of the electricity consumption of the company's mainland outlets had come from renewable electricity, "which is a positive response to the 'dual carbon' goal".
Lin Shuren, a young man from Taiwan, has been rooted in Daliangshan, Sichuan Province for many years, and after he obtained a doctorate from Peking University, he planted olives in Liangshan Prefecture with his father, from the first batch of 600 acres to the current 250,000 mu, driving thousands of local farmers to increase their income. Local villagers have given the olive oil developed by the Lin family and his son a Yi name - Mudu Hani, which means "flame". Lin Shuren explained, "It is the joint efforts of the two sides of the strait that ignite the hope of getting rich."
The development opportunities in the central and western regions of the mainland have also made Guo, a young man from Taiwan who also started a business in Sichuan and engaged in cross-strait exchanges, carry forward his "feelings." In 2023, the entrepreneurial park where it is located will receive more than 1,000 visits from Taiwanese youth, and 22 new Taiwanese companies will settle in. When he returned to Taiwan for the Chinese New Year this year, Guo Hongyang observed that many young people on the island wanted to come to the mainland for a walk. He hoped that the Taiwanese businessmen and young people who are pursuing their dreams on the mainland will give full play to their energies and attract more young people on the island to join the wave of development on the mainland.
Speaking of cross-strait economic exchanges, Ding Kunhua, honorary president of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Enterprises, pointed out that cross-strait economic and trade relations are of great importance to Taiwan. Taiwan has not been able to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) before, and now with the gradual development of the agreement, Taiwan will not only be unable to enjoy the economic development dividends it brings, but also the stability of the import and export market and the ** chain will be affected.
Many Taiwan businessmen are more concerned about the prospect of the "Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement" (ECFA) at hand. Guo Shanhui said that since the ECFA came into effect in 2010, it has brought huge dividends to Taiwan's industries and commodities. Once terminated, Taiwanese products will not only lose the mainland market, but the industry will face high tariffs, and the competitive advantage will no longer be lost.
Taiwan's business community is very much looking forward to the further implementation of the ECFA, and we are actively promoting the resumption of negotiations on cross-strait trade in goods and services. Lai Cheng-yi, chairman of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, expressed the hope that the two sides of the strait will maintain exchanges in the economic, trade, and cultural fields under the "consensus of '92."
Chen Yimin, secretary general of the Taiwan Federation of Industries, said that the mainland has a large market scale, a complete first-class chain and world-class infrastructure, showing strong resilience; Some of Taiwan's technologies are at the forefront of the world, such as semiconductors, precision machinery, industrial Internet, etc. The two sides of the strait have broad opportunities for cooperation, and integration brings not only win-win results, "but also the accumulation of goodwill, so that the two sides of the strait can embark on a peaceful path of joint development, and also bring positive forces to the world."
After more than 30 years of cross-strait exchanges, it has long been 'you have me, I have you', and this is true of all industrial chains. Li Honglan, a Taiwan businessman who has worked the mainland for decades, said, "Just like the blood relationship between the two sides of the strait, it cannot be broken and will not be broken."
