F60 Stainless Steel Flange Standard ASME B16 5 Flange and ASTM A182 Elements and Mechanical Properti

Mondo Home Updated on 2024-03-07

F60 in accordance with conventional ASTM A182 and ASME B165 standards to discuss a stainless steel flange (such as S31803), its elemental composition and mechanical properties are as follows:

Element composition (take UNS S31803 as an example):

Chromium (CR): 210 - 23.0%

Nickel (Ni): 45 - 6.5%

Molybdenum (Mo): 25 - 3.5%

Nitrogen (n): 008 - 0.20%

Mechanical properties (approximate, depending on the state of heat treatment):

Tensile strength (RM): 550 MPa

Yield strength (rp0..)2 or rp): 450 MPa

Elongation (a): 25%.

Hardness (Brinell hardness Hb): For duplex stainless steel, its hardness is generally not the main evaluation index.

According to ASME B165 standards, this type of stainless steel flange should meet:

Dimensional tolerance: The outer diameter, inner diameter, thickness and other dimensions of the flange must meet the tolerance range specified in the standard.

Material quality: It is necessary to ensure that the chemical composition meets the standards and that the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties are met by inspection.

Manufacturing processes: Forging, machining, welding, and heat treatment processes are subject to the appropriate specifications and procedures.

Pressure level: different specifications of flanges correspond to different pressure ratings, and the design and production should be based on B165 standards.

The ASTM A182 standard, on the other hand, specifies the chemical composition, manufacturing process, mechanical properties, and test methods of alloy steel and stainless steel castings or forgings for valves, flanges, bolts, studs, and other similar components. Therefore, if a so-called "F60" stainless steel flange exists, it should meet both ASTM A182 and ASME B165 requirements.
