After the People's Liberation Army crossed the Yangtze River, the Kuomintang troops fled, and many troops revolted or surrendered to Cheng in the whole corps, army, and division, and there was such a corps commander who was summoned by Chiang's father and son a few days ago, and told Chiang's father and son that "if you don't succeed, you will become benevolent," but in the face of the general trend of defeat, he also had to choose the road of uprising. Interestingly, his uprising was caused by finding a "tutor" who "copied" other people's ready-made homework, and even the uprising was electrified by others. This commander is the Twentieth Corps, which has just been formed not long ago.

The Twentieth Corps was established in September 1949, when the Kuomintang army was defeated again and again, most of the military departments were rebuilt by collecting the remnants of the army, when the Twentieth Corps was first established, the situation was slightly better, the main force at that time was the Corps commander Chen Kefei concurrently served as the commander of the main army of the 2nd Army, this force originally belonged to the main force of the 13th appeasement area guarding Nanyang, and the loss was not large. There is also a 124th Army, and the commander is called Gu Baoyu.

By November, the unit had retreated to Chongqing with Song Xilian's 14th Corps, and at this time, Chiang Ching-kuo summoned Song Xilian and Chen Kefei in Jiangkou Town, Pengshui, and the two expressed their loyalty to Chiang Ching-kuo. Chiang Ching-kuo called Chen a "standard general".

In December, when the 20th Corps was defeated and retreated to Chengdu, Chiang Kai-shek summoned him again, and transferred the reorganized 15th Army, the 118th Army and the newly formed 10th Division to the corps.

At this time, the 124th Army led by Gu Baoyu had fled with Song Xilian in the direction of the Dadu River, and after the defeat, he led the remnants to surrender to Li Wenbu of the Fifth Corps in Xikang. Gu Hou went to Taiwan and died of illness in 1959.

A few days after Chiang Kai-shek fled Chengdu, Duan Guojie, commander of the 243rd Division of the 15th Army, Chen's old subordinate, came to see Chen Kefei. Speaking of the old chief Zhang Fu in Rong at this time, the two immediately asked to see Zhang. Zhang informed Chen of the uprising of Liu Wenhui, Deng Xihou, and Pan Wenhua, and said that his son was at Deng Xihou's place to persuade Chen to revolt, and he could help him.

However, Chen Kefei was a little embarrassed, because at this time, the 20th Corps had been under the unified command of Hu Zongnan, and the task given to him by Hu was to solve Deng Xihou's troops. In the end, Chen Kefei decided to revolt under the pressure of the People's Liberation Army and entrusted Zhang Fu and Duan Chengtao to help. Duan immediately went to Peng County, met with Liu Wenhui and Deng Xihou, and brought back the representatives of the People's Liberation Army, Qin and Chen Li, and gave Chen a reply within three days.

Later, Hu Zongnan fled, relieving Chen's worries, and then hurriedly found Deputy Commander Luo Guangwen and others to discuss the uprising, and asked Zhang Fan for advice on how to draw up a telegram about the uprising. After the telegram of the uprising was prepared, the commanders of the various armies were notified to hold a meeting and sign their signatures to express their attitude. The telegram was then sent to Peng County with the original signature, and was sent to Beijing by Liu Wenhui's radio station that night, and the uprising was successful.

Chen Kefei himself, who later served as deputy commander of the 50th Army of the People's Liberation Army, committed suicide in Wuhan in 1960. The commander of the 118th Army, Fang Jun, later served as a member of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and died in 1985. Liu Ping, commander of the 15th Army, later deputy director of the Wuhan Civil Affairs Bureau, died in Beijing in 1962. Duan Chengtao later served as deputy director of the Hubei Provincial Department of Communications and a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Luo Guangwen later served as director of the Shandong Provincial Forestry Department and died in 1955. History
