On March 1, the China Manned Space Engineering Office announced that the Shenzhou-17 astronaut crew will choose the opportunity to carry out the second out-of-cabin activity in the near future.
The modules of the space station, manned spacecraft, cargo spacecraft, relay satellites and the Long March series carrier rockets used to launch these spacecraft used in China's space station project are all developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and other subsystems of the project are also participated by relevant units affiliated to the Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
Since the successful completion of the first out-of-cabin activity on December 21, 2023, the Shenzhou-17 astronaut crew has successively completed the in-orbit training of robotic arm operation, system-wide pressure emergency drill, payload out-of-cabin, experimental cabinet commissioning and preparation for the second out-of-cabin activity, and space science experimental projects such as space life science and human research, space microgravity physics, space astronomy and earth science, and space new technologies and applications have made solid and steady progress.
At present, the Shenzhou-17 astronaut crew is in good condition, the space station assembly is operating stably, and it has the conditions to carry out out-of-cabin activities.
