One of Singapore s most notorious cases was the 1981 Toa Payoh child killing

Mondo History Updated on 2024-03-02

Toa Payoh was built in 1964 and is located in the northern part of Singapore.

How to put it, it was planned as a slum for Chinese people at that time, which is what we understand as a type of low-rent housing.

Locally, they are called flats (flats) as shown in the picture below

After several years of development, a large number of people moved in, so that for a time this place also fell into chaos, ** once described this place as the "Chicago of the East".

Because in the 80s of the last century, Singapore's largest crime syndicates and gangs were active here.

Among them, the "child homicide case" in 1981 is the most notorious case in Toa Payoh.

At 2 o'clock in the morning on January 25, 1981, a 25-year-old carpenter had just finished watching a late-night movie with his girlfriend, and his heart was still immersed in sweetness.

Humming a little song, he prepared to return to his home at Bm 11 (equivalent to Unit 11 of Building 7) on Lorong 7 of Toa Payoh.

While waiting for the elevator, he noticed a brown travel bag at the entrance of the stairs, bulging.

Looking left and right, there was no one nearby.

Driven by curiosity, he approached the travel bag, and just wanted to open it, when he suddenly saw a faint red watermark on the bottom of the bag, like bloodstains, and there were mottled marks on the bag.

The carpenter was not good, so he quickly and wisely called the police.

*Upon arriving at the scene, the zipper of the travel bag is opened, revealing a bloody head, followed by a body curled like a baby.

After investigation, the deceased was a 9-year-old girl, Huang Xiuye, who was born into a devout Catholic family with nine children, and she was the youngest of nine children, at Holy Innocents'Chinese girl school).

At 4 p.m. on January 24, she was last seen at a church in Toa Payoh, waiting for her sister to come home from school.

However, after my sister got out of class, she didn't see her.

According to the forensic examination, she was brutally raped first and then killed, and her *** official had scars, and male body fluids were also detected in the rectum.

*After injecting her with a sedative**, he suffocated her by covering her mouth and nose with his hands.

Because there was not much evidence, there were no clues after interrogating about 250 people at the scene, and the investigation was at a bottleneck.

And yet just two weeks later, on February 7.

Residents found the body of a boy under a tree between Band 10 and 11 in Lane 7.

This is also where Huang Xiuye's body was found.

There was a faint trail of blood next to the boy's body.

After investigation, it was found to be a 10-year-old Malay, Ghazali Marzuki.

The day before, he and his cousins were playing when they met a mysterious woman who had come to ask for help, and the latter two got into a taxi and disappeared.

The medical examiner determined that the boy had died of drowning, but that he had burns to his back, a pierced arm, and a sedative in his blood.

It is speculated that he was injected with some kind of sedative, and then he was drowned by pressing his head into a basin of water, and there was no ** sign on him.

As I said above, there was a faint blood stain extending next to the boy's body, but in fact, when the body was thrown, I didn't notice that the body's nostrils were bleeding.

Note: Drowning victims, due to water pressure, often lead to respiratory bleeding of the organs.

Later, during the salvage and removal of the body, due to the change in air pressure, blood will flow out of the facial features.

**It was along the intermittent drops of blood at the scene that I found **'s home.

* Lives on the 7th floor of Blk 12, called Lin Baolong.

Lin Baolong was 41 years old at the time, the eldest son in the family, and he didn't study well since he was a child, and worked part-time as a beggar.

The so-called Qiqi is a popular folk custom in Southeast Asia.

When the gods get up, they will take the body of the boy and guide the people through the maze.

Of course, Lin Baolong is not a real boy, he is just a god.

Its customers are varied, if it is a woman, he will cheat money and sex, if it is a man or an old woman, he will only cheat money, fortunately not heavy taste.

His best skill is a trick called "Needle and Egg".

The needle is blackened with soot from a candle, a raw egg is carefully inserted, and the hole is sealed with powder.

To do this, the raw egg is handed to the customer and asked to crack the egg open.

Without knowing that the eggs have been tampered with, customers will believe that they have been evil when they see the black needles.

What's even more amazing is that Lin Baolong actually lives with his wife and ** happy.

His wife Chen Meizhu is a junior.

When Chen was a dancer (that's the kind of, you know), he met and got together with the married Lin Baolong.

Lin Baolong's original partner divorced categorically after being discovered, and then happily married Chen Meizhu.

After getting married, Chen Meizhu discovered Lin Baolong's true face, but under severe beatings and intimidation, Chen Meizhu estimated that she had Stockholm syndrome, not only assisted her husband in arranging customers for him to "enjoy", but also sold her body to subsidize the family.

She even listened to Lim Po Long's absurd remarks of "picking the yang to supplement the yin", and got together with a young Malay, plus ...... with her own brotherUh, it's messy.

To put it simply, Chen was completely PUA by Lin Baolong, both mentally and physically.

Lin Baolong's ** name is He Jiafeng, who used to be Lin Baolong's customer.

Lin Baolong successfully confused He Jiafeng with the trick of "needle and egg", making He Jiafeng think that he was evil.

Then He Jiafeng took her husband to Lin Baolong's house for "electrotherapy", but she didn't expect her husband to be electrocuted by Lin Baolong with high-voltage electricity.

Because He Jiafeng witnessed the death of her husband, her spirit was instantly disfigured and she became a neurotic.

However, Lin Baolong did not dislike it, and still took her over to live with her, and became a "holy wife".

In other words, I found Lin Baolong's house, and saw that his house was dim, a shrine was facing the door, and the house was full of dazzling artifacts and statues, some of which were also smeared with blood, and the atmosphere was extremely weird.

At that time, Lin Baolong was neatly dressed and seemed to be about to run away.

* When blood droplets were found in the kitchen, Lin Baolong first said it was wax, and then changed it to chicken blood.

But then he was slapped in the face by a forensic doctor with human blood.

* Blood stains were also found in refrigerators, room floors, etc., but the conclusive evidence was a piece of paper sandwiched in a ** book, with the names of the two victims written on it.

Lin Baolong and his two women were immediately arrested.

They confessed that they had killed the two children to get revenge on society.

It turned out that at the end of 1980, Lin Baolong's bad deeds were exposed by customers, and someone sued him **, and he was being investigated.

This made Lin Baolong very annoyed and decided to do something big to disrupt his investigation.

He claimed that he thought that he could divert the attention of ** by sacrificing the child to Shimu (the Hindu god).

So he pretended to be possessed by Shi's mother, and made Chen Meizhu and He Jiafeng, two mentally abnormal women, believe that Shi's mother wanted them to kill children to retaliate against the customers who exposed him.

The two women began to look for targets for Lin Baolong.

On January 24, 1981, He Jiafeng found Huang Xiuye in a nearby church and lured her to the trio's residence.

The trio kept feeding the girl food and drink containing flurazepam (a psychotropic drug).

While the girl fell asleep due to the drug, Lin Baolong scolded Huang Xiuye on the grounds that the god of ** asked to do something with the female victim.

Nearly midnight, the trio suffocated the girl with a pillow, then drew her blood, smearing it on the statue of Shimu as they drank.

To make sure the girl was dead, they put her head into a bucket of water and then give her an electric shock.

Finally, they packed the girl's body into a bag and disposed of it next to the elevator in HDB 11.

On 6 February 1981, Ho Jiafeng took the second victim, Ghazali, to the house of the three.

They change the soup and not the medicine to deal with the boys.

However, the boy's body was resistant to sedatives and it took a long time for him to fall asleep.

Lin Baolong decided to tie up the boy just in case, but the boy kept struggling when he woke up.

The trio panicked and punched the boy in the neck, and as the boy struggled, they pumped out his blood and drowned him.

The boy's violent struggle before he died, during which he kept vomiting, incontinence, and blood from his nostrils, making a mess of the home.

Chen Meizhu stayed to clean the house, and Lin Baolong and He Jiafeng disposed of the body.

After that, Lin Baolong noticed a bloodstain outside the house, so he and the two women cleaned up the stain as much as possible overnight, but after a hundred secrets, it still left a faint bloodstain, which attracted the arrest of the ** doorman.

Two days later, Lin Baolong, Chen Meizhu and He Jiafeng** were charged with two crimes.

The defense's main defense was mental problems, and the three ** abnormal mental states and rhapsodyness were repeatedly emphasized.

The prosecution presented evidence that the trio were level-headed and scheming in the murder of the two children.

The prosecution prosecutor said that it is impossible for people to have the same illusion, and even accused **cruel** of the fact that Lin Baolong chose children who were powerless to resist.

Lin Baolong's case has aroused great public resentment.

The neighbors in Toa Payoh gritted their teeth and despised him very much.

Therefore, when the case was heard, the people who ate melons often gathered outside the court, hoping to know the trial process of the case as soon as possible.

On 25 May 1983, a large crowd gathered outside the building to await the verdict of the child murder case.

Due to the limited seating in the courtroom, only a small number of people were allowed to enter the courtroom to hear the judge's verdict read out for only 15 minutes.

The chief and deputy judges did not believe that the defendant was insane at the time of the crime, and the two believed that Lin Baolong "carried out his conspiracy in an odious and vicious manner, and Chen Meizhu was a "cunning and vicious person" who was "willing to assist (Lin Baolong) in committing hateful and ** crimes", and although He Jiafeng had a history of mental illness, she was in a state of remission at the time of the crime, so she must bear full responsibility for what she did.

In summary, the three defendants were convicted and sentenced to death by hanging.

When Lin Baolong was taken out of the courtroom, he shouted with a smile: "Thank you, Your Excellency!" ”

Lim Poh Loong once became the embodiment of the best in the eyes of Singaporeans, and some even turned out to be angry with the defense lawyer and issued death threats to him.

The prosecution prosecutor took advantage of the situation, and his career went on to go on a smooth ride, when he became the Secretary for Commercial Affairs in 1984.

Ironically, seven years later, he was imprisoned on ** charges.

Lin Baolong was ostracized by other prisoners in prison until he was freed by hanging.

This horrific child murder was voted the most horrific crime of all time by local newspaper readers in the late 90s.

Today, decades after the incident, people still remember it vividly, especially the neighbors who still live near the crime scene, and Lin Baolong still has anger in his eyes.

The case was remade in the 90s as the films The Medium and The Dog and the Dog.

I've basically briefly explained some of the details of the crime in it.

You can imagine for yourselves.

*, taking blood alive, drinking blood, smearing blood on so-called "idols", killing people, etc.

Isn't such a person terrifying?
