Translations. Draw cool well water to rinse your mouth and brush your teeth, and then brush off the dust on your clothes when your heart is clear. Leisurely pick up the Buddha Gate Bayeux Sutra, walk out of Tosai chant and read aloud. The true meaning of Buddhist scriptures has not been comprehended by the world, and superstition and absurdity are chased by the world. The essence of Buddhism and Confucianism can also be expected to be secretly combined, but how can I be proficient in cultivating my nature. How elegant and quiet is the Taoist Zen Temple, with green moss connecting the depths of the bamboo forest. The sun came out to shine on the morning mist, and the green pine trees seemed to be greased after bathing. Tranquility makes me tranquil and indescribable, and I realize the Buddha's inner happiness and contentment.

Brief introduction. Liu Zongyuan [Tang] 773 819, the character is thick, Hedong County (now Yongji County, Shanxi) in the Tang Dynasty

He was a famous outstanding poet, philosopher, Confucian scholar and even an accomplished politician, and one of the eight great masters of the Tang and Song dynasties. His famous works include more than 600 articles such as "Yongzhou Eight Records", which have been compiled into 30 volumes by later generations, called "Liuhe East Collection". Because he is a native of Hedong, he is known as Liuhedong, and because he finally took office in Liuzhou, he is also known as Liuliuzhou. Liu Zongyuan and Han Yu were both leading figures in the ancient literary movement of the Middle and Tang Dynasty, and were called "Han Liu".

Commentary This poem was written when the poet was demoted to Yongzhou, and was written in the first year of Yuanhe (806). At that time, Liu Zongyuan lived in Yongzhou Longxing Temple. Longxing Temple is in the south of the city, the abbot monk is Chongxun, sitting in meditation in the Pure Land Temple of Longxing Temple, adjacent to Liu Zongyuan who lives in the west chamber of Longxing Temple. Because Chongxun is the "Buddha of good words" in the south of Chu, he is called "super master". Liu Zongyuan sought his way in Yongzhou Buddha, mainly to worship Chongxun as a teacher, or ask him to preach "Buddha Dao", or go to the Pure Land Temple to read Buddhist scriptures.

This poem describes the scene and feelings of reading the Zen Sutra in the morning, expresses the depression buried in the bottom of the heart in twists and turns, and expresses the poet's philosophical opinions. In the first half, the poet goes to the Zen temple to read the scriptures, accusing the world of chasing those absurd things and not understanding the true meaning of the Buddhist scriptures. In the second half of the book, he believes that the essence of Buddhism has something in common with the way of Confucianism, but it is difficult to master how to cultivate one's nature. However, he lingered on the quiet elegance of the Zen temple. The whole poem describes the state of mind of practicing Zen, as well as the relaxed, happy, and leisurely state of mind that is deeply interested in Zen. Hotspot Engine Program
